Disney World Castmember Discounts

Does anyone know if Castmembers get a discount on Dooney & Bourke bags? I have a co-worker who has a family member that works at Disney World and was going to have him pick it up for me instead of waiting until December.

Yes that is why so many are being sold on ebay.

I think their "normal" discount is 35%, but I know at Christmas they were given a "special" discount of 50%.

I know this from being in line behind cast members. While there the week before Christmas the cast member in front of me, with 12 large Dooney bags, told me all about how she sells them on ebay and with the 50% discount is making more on ebay than at her actual job. (She had some sort of an office job for Disney). Of course, I was just trying to buy one--and the one I wanted was sold out (probably because there were 30 available on ebay!)

Yes, you can use CM discounts on D&B. My CM friend had the 50% off at WoD last holiday season so she bought one for a gift for a friend of ours. I hate to see it being abused!

you're not allowed to resell anything you purchase as a cast member. Under technicality, they are not even allowed to extend their discount to any one else. Like you can't go with a CM to a register and pay with thier discount.

I'm guilty of sharing my discount with family, they give me cash and i go to the register. But i don't profit from it.

Both cases can get a person fired. Same thing with accepting cash for using your maingate or comp tickets.

A CM discount is 20%. Once you reach 3yrs or become salaried, it's 35%. Holiday celebration is 40%, but the past two years has been bumped to 50% at most stores/items.

If you want to extend your discount, you can do so at cast connection, or while dining.

The regular discount CMs get on merchandise is 20%. They usually get special discounts around the holidays, from 40% to 50%. The one important thing to remember is that the CM must pay for the item themselves.

That is the kind of stuff that ruins it for the rest of the employees!

Disney should limit the number of D&B it sells to any one Cast Member on a discount at any one time.

I'm not saying it's right and I'm not saying it's wrong. But if Disney isn't doing anything to stop it, then it's going to be done.

Yea they should not let them buy some many at once, that doesnt seen very fair.

Just so you know, if found out, she can be fired for doing that.

I can tell you that yes you can get CM discount (does NOT have to WDW only employees) on D&B purses.

As a former (hopefully current soon) CM, I was able to get 2 different style of the D&B bags and the wristlets during Christmas with the 50% discount. That is one of the perks of being a very hard working CM all year, and I LOVE IT!!! I do not agree that there should be limits set for CM's to purchase these items just because one or two bad apples buy in bulk. I agree it is not fair or allowed for CM's to buy with the intent to resell, but, IMO, they are in the VAST minority of CM's that do this.

I was so excited to get bags for everyone on my shopping list, and they STILL tell me it was the best gift they ever received. Just FYI I hunted every store in WDW over 7 days to buy 6 purses & matching wristlets. Someone could have easily assumed I was buying to resell, but I wasn't and would NEVER do that!

I would have been very upset if I could not do this for my loved ones and friends..it was one of the best things I could do for many of them, and they appreciated it more than you can imagine.

I have to say I do find it hard to believe that a CM would openly discuss clear violations of policy with a guest and in front of the cashier CM while purchasing that many items. MOST and I emphasize MOST CM's are VERY aware of our "perks" and discreet when making purchases in front of guests.

I just find it very odd that the CM would risk their job and that purchase to brag about something that clearly violates Disney policy...just my .02
