Just got back from a great week at Disneyland. After seeing the success of Carsland, was wondering if there are any rumors out there about a Carsland coming to Disney World? I remember some rumors right after Carsland opened. However, have not heard any recent news about it happening!

There were rumors a while back when Kathy Mangum (who was in charge of Carsland) was transferred to WDW that she would head up a new Carsland there. But it has since been announced that she will be in charge of the new Disney Springs so I'm not sure if those were just rumors. I guess only time will tell. It would be nice though.

I think you're more likely to see a Pixar Land with incorporation of Radiator Springs Racers and other Pixar-themes attractions rather than a duplicate Cars Land.

I've heard that they will be building Carsland at HS and it will take over the Backlot Tour

With all due respect...no you didn't.

Anyone with concrete knowledge of a major construction project that hasn't been leaked or announced would not be spreading it around.

Unless your Bob Iger's barber...

ARE you.:.in fact...Bob Iger's barber?

No, I'm actually his proctologist! I don't have a need to prove anything to anyone. Also, while Iger is the current CEO, a decision regarding something of that nature for WDW would probably come from Mr. Staggs. Of course with final approval from Iger.

Even better idea

STAR.WARS.LAND

i will hope and pray every day until that dream is finally a reality :rotfl2:

Fair enough...

But realize when I hear "a reliable source" I'm just gonna assume its a conversation between a janitor and a guy filling slushies from the stand below the Astroorbiter...

I'm just never sure who told who

Fair enough as well. I do understand why "a reliable source" is usually taken with less than a grain of salt for the excessiveness that people use it when describing information heard they might have heard or gotten from Joe Schmo at the bottom of the totem pole.

I have heard from a reliable source that a few people on here don't know what they are talking about. :lmao:

The reality of it is none of us have any clue.

It's a Dow 30 company with about 150,000. Employees...

But ask yourself what side you want to be on...
The "I know a guy who knows a guys whose cousin's sister definitely knows they are going to build _____ for ____ hundred millions/ billions" side

Or the "I don't buy it till I see it" side

?

I forgot to mention...that I am part of the "few people" that don't know anything. I am my own reliable source on that one. I was just messing. Rumors can be fun, but some just get out of hand and string onto another topic and some just read too deep into them.

"I don't buy it till I see it" I guess is the side I am on. Whether it's AK or HS expansion or changes, its all "let's see what happens" type of deal to me. Now like AK, we see stuff moving around, so a land based on AVATAR is a go? Maybe, something is going on. Cancellations of parades at HS and buildings that are used to house them are now are in question because of a Star Wars Land possibility.

So when we speak of rumors about something and movement within the World leads us to believe that they are coming true, then we can add fuel to the rumors, I enjoy those more when there is some action around the rumor I guess.

Enough of my blabbing....

It's not babbling if it has real thought put into it...

Now "a bus driver toward me" or "I talked to a cm from guest relations" or "I know somebody who swears they've seen the plans...but I can't say who"
That's just babbling:)

...that i read somewhere online, i'm not sure where now as i search far too much!

I read that Disney were possibly planning to get rid of Lights, Motors, Action at HS as it was now costing too much to run and attendance has dropped and then replace it with Carsland in approx. 3 years. They didn't want to bring Carsland to WDW too soon as it could take money/attendance away from their California parks.

I don't know whether or not this has any truth in it but i guess we'll find out in time. :hourglass

When we were down at DW we made sure to watch the Lights, Motors, Action Show and attend the Back Lot tour "Just In Case" as our travel agent had told us they were going to be taken down for "New Development" Rumor had it Carsland was coming BUT we aren't willing to wait for 3 years LOL..we have our trip to California Reserved and Flights Booked for THIS JULY

The ongoing rumblings of the demise of LMA and the Backlot Tour just make too much sense to me.

I remember our first visit to WDW and what was then MGM in 2001, and LMA was one of the biggest, baddest things MGM/DHS had going for it. Heck, I think it was actually FastPassed at that time. We had to make sure we got back at the right time for the right show, and the place was packed.

Fast-forward seven years later on our return trip, and for a couple trips thereafter - and the FastPass kiosks are gone/covered, the crowds aren't a fourth of what they were when we first visited, and the stadium is not even close to full. And, to be very honest, the production is pretty stale. No offense to those who enjoy LCA, but the whole format seems to have really run out of steam.

Same goes almost word-for-word for the Backlot Tour. Now, the one variable is the set building portion of the tour, which varies with whatever is being made at the time, but in general, the show has gotten really stale, too. First time we went, the crowd was huge, took a long time to get through, but now...meh. The video is old, the props are old - particularly the issues related to detailed modelmaking, which is all-but a lost art these days with CGI.

Looks as though there's some rumblings about DHS getting an update/reinvention/reinvigoration in the coming months/years, and it surely seems to me LMA/Backlot Tour are prime candidates for retirement.

Not to steal your thunder...

But lights motors action was installed in MGM in 2005.

It's a clone of a stuntshow in Disney studios Paris that was opened in 2003.
That park didnt open until 2002

Haha if they do not build it soon I too will have to take a trip to California, only thing is it costs us the same for 5 days in California as it does for 2 weeks in WDW, flights from the England do not come cheap :( have a great trip in July!
