Disney Workers May Strike
A group of workers from two hotels on Disney property is planning to go on strike. Employees from the Swan and Dolphin hotels rejected a three-year contract offered to over 400 of the two thousand workers. The group wants a guaranteed 40 hour work week and seniority based perks. The union of workers rejected the offer the first time in March. A spokesperson for the employees says they have no alternative but to go on strike. Hotel owners say they're standing by their initial offer.

just to clarify..the people that work at the S/D are not employees of WDW. Let's hope that the strike doesn't occur! :) Alot of Dis'ers like to stay at these hotels!

We're staying at the Dolphin in July. Please keep us up to date on this. Thanks.

We are suppossed to be at the Dolphin in Aug so we are also interest in how this works out.

No worries this should all be passed in a week or two. It is for their housekeepers, public area cleaners, and laundry cast member who are unionized. Unfortunately many of these cast members don't speak english as a first language.

All will sort itself out, and if need be management of the hotels will be there to make you beds and clean your rooms if the need arrises.

Media these days, likes to blow these types of this out of proportion, unfortunatlely.

Look forward to your upcoming trips with no worries but happy thoughts!

While we were in Disney over the weekend there was one of those banner planes flying around with STOP WORKER ABUSE AT THE SWAN AND DOLPHIN. So it's not just the media blowing this out of proportion. Seems like the staff is doing a good job of that themselves.

Oh no!!! We will be there next week!!! I sure hope they get their problems worked out.

Eloise - Since we're going to be there in less than a month, I'm going to hope that you're right and things will work themselves out. Even if they don't, I have enough faith in S/D that they will make sure their guests get 5 star treatment.
