From my daughter onboard Disney Wonder, they are missing both their visits to Mexico on the Panama Canal cruise and will now arrive in San Diego Thursday morning instead of Friday. Guests will have port fees refunded, a 10% refund of the voyage fare and 40% off a future cruise.

sounds like a win For the guests.

Something sounds a bit odd. They often have skipped one or two ports on this itinerary and only give refunds for port taxes on the missed ports, which was almost nothing. The one day early back would make sense to get some refund but this sounds pretty extreme.

It's a 14 day cruise and they only got 2 port stops on day 3 and 4. 9 days at sea. They also had a medical emergency and rough seas early on. No entertainer swap as cartegena wouldn't let them dock. Sounds like lots of issues, although I'm sure the crew stepped up with extra activities and made the best of the situation.

They're not actually missing the day. They can choose to disembark on Thursday or they disembark on Friday. But there is no sight-seeing on Thursday, once you're off, you're off. I actually think the 10% back plus 40% (that I also think they said can be combined with a placeholder) is fantastic.

For those that stay on the ship when it's docked in San Diego, there's a full day of entertainment planned, so they'll have had the full package as far as that aspect of the cruise is concerned.

Too bad they didn’t quite get the cruise as planned but those things do happen. They just got what appears to be more issues on one cruise. On the 2019 WBTA we too ended up in port a day early due to the hurricane and re-routing but they had more overall issues.

With the extra day in NYC for us DCL added some extra local excursions. We could come and go once the ship was cleared. Any word if they are doing that in San Diego? Not sure if the current circumstances with the quarantines will allow for anything or if the guest can even leave the ship.

Passengers can disembark between 12 and 2pm on the Thursday or stay on board until Friday. They will not be able to leave and then get back on the ship on Thursday, once they're off, they're off.

That was crazy how we missed ports, never saw that coming, LOL
But we still had a good time. We enjoyed the extra day in the City.

We are in San Diego now. First glimpse of a mask. Captain Henry announced last night that people who are disembarking should not be surprised to see media looking for statements.

Are you staying on until tomorrow or getting off today?

Staying on until tomorrow. We considered getting off this evening so we could take a morning flight tomorrow, but debarkation was only allowed 12-2. They are taking such amazing care of us, and I know it was the right choice for us.

We’re on the Wonder right now. I agree that the 40 percent is very generous and unexpected. I think maybe it’s because it ended up being such a long stretch of sea days? But honestly it’s been a fun cruise and we’ve felt pretty insulated from al the insanity going on on land. The crew has been phenomenal.

We’re using our discount on a 10 night Northern European.
