Disney Wonder - Tracking Room Refurbishments

Thanks Czmom'. I just got off the phone with concierge. He didn't have much info on the refuels, but did say that the concierge rooms won't be done by March.

We are cruising to Alaska in June...On another thread, someone mentioned that they are likely planning on having all the reburbs done before the Wonder heads through the Panama Canal to Alaska so that they can work with the same construction crew, working out of the same port, easier access to materials and dumpsters, etc.

Made sense to me! :-):)

That does make sense! Hopefully then all the refurb work will be done before we set foot back on board!! Cannot wait in all honesty :)

I will be on the Wonder on Fri in a 1 bedroom suite, and I've heard the suites won't be touched for now, but I'm on again in March in room 7632. I'm going to find out if that room has been done already. From what I've been reading it sounds like it probably has!
I will post sometime over the weekend!

Weren't the suites refurb'd during the extensive dry-dock when they added the aqua-duck? I've seen at least member post of the new 1br suite. It looked pretty nice compared to the old deco.

I'd like to see a real photo of the updated Royal suite. I've only seen renderings that Disney did.

The Dream and Fantasy have the AquaDuck. The Magic got the AquaDunk. Wonder has not gone into dry dock for any major work like the Magic did.

We were on Wonder last week. They had the forward starboard hall blocked and were renovating rooms 8500-8514. Not sure if they were working anywhere else. I tried but did not get a look down the hall to see what they were doing. They had plastic on the carpet which lead me to believe the carpet was already replaced or was not going to be replaced (????).

We were in cabin 2112 and 2116 and they were not renovated. The corridor walls near our cabin and the walls in our cabin are in desperate need of new coverings. You can tell they have tried to patch them over the years; they look awful (dirty, scratched, dented). The dirty, nicked walls in the corridors and our rooms were the only noticeable deficiency on the ship. Hopefully the room renovations include re-covering the walls in the cabins and the stateroom corridors. The rest of the ship was beautiful for being 15 years old.

At the beginning of our cruise, we noticed there were 5-6 roll off dumpsters at the Port of Miami on the pier that were full of old mattresses, couches, stools, and tables.

Do we know if they are switching out the coolers for real refrigerators?

Just got off the Wonder yesterday staying in Stateroom 7626. We were told by our hostess that we were the first to stay in the refurbished room and found it very nice.

The only thing we wish we had know was that there are outlets for international plugs next to the bed on the side with the alarm clock. Had I known that I would have brought my plug adapter rather than getting an extension cord for my CPAP from guest services.

Do the rooms look like the pictures of the magic?

I would think so. Not sure about the suites as it would cost them a lot to have them closed for a cruise to get them done.

The suites won't be done until dry dock. I just got off yesterday and stayed in 8532. We did get all new curtains, and was told they may do small things, but the bulk of it will be done during the dry dock.

I believe Deck 6 and 7 has been completed, and they were working on the regular staterooms on Deck 8 when I was on the ship just yesterday for the 5 night cruise. The goal is to have ALL staterooms completed other then the suites by end of March or April.

Do you know exactly what's being done? I know they are replacing the twin bed combo with an actual queen bed, but what else? Are they replacing the cooling boxes with real fridges? New carpet? ...........

I guess I should view a refurbished room for 2015 will be "newer" than our room in 2014 but I'm just a tad bid bummed that it appears our cabin is being done in the 1st batch and will have nearly 8 months worth of wear before we get there. Was kind of hoping that went at it the other way. Guess I should just count the weeks out and look at it as there are only about 30 parties there before us. :cool1:

From the pictures/videos I have seen yes, they look very similar. The small table and the desk stool appear to be the same as does the couch. Based on that packing tape still holding shelves in place, it would appear that the stateroom now has a new refrigerator as opposed to a cooling box.

This was our first cruise so I cannot say what had actually changed other than our hostess telling us the carpet was also brand new.

Everything we saw looked really good and the only thing that did not appear new were the wooden furnishings such as the desk/dressers units and the steamer trunk.

Do you know if they added a hair dryer by the desk?
