Disney Wonder Sept 3-7, 2006 Part 3

Nice pics Kerry! My DS-6 is really into Cars and just had his bday last month. We got the Cars decorations from Publix and put them on Daddy's cake --- he really likes Daddy's homemade cake. It's cute to see him playing with cars again, like a kid. When DH and both DS's - 6&7 are all doing the Xbox thing, yelling at the screen and such - so absorbed, I feel like I'm living with 3 teenage boys. The xbox and gameboys only recently took hold of them, maybe last 6 months, so playing with cars again was a nice stepback. I use to sit on the driveway watching them play out front. Now I find I'm watching the empty front yard but still out there, by myself, driven out to a quieter spot by the video game playing and yelling going on inside the house!

In SC I have seen it as low as $2.62

FL stinks in this regard. I was happy to fill up for 2.95 yesterday at offname place, the Shell across the street was 2.99. And I only fill with the cheapest gas.......... which you'd probably guess since I also booked Cat 12 accomidations!

That is how my place is but last night I had enough. I told DS-you better clean up your stuff otherwise your best friend is not coming over on Sunday. Next thing I know, I can actually see the carpet!

I cleaned both his bathroom and mine last night. Tonight the dining room and kitchen gets my attention so all I have to do is dust and vacuum tomorrow.

I know, and I'm sort of bummed! I remember when mommy was the preferred parent but with the video games and the fact that daddy is strong enough to throw them up high in the pool........ I'm here to feed them and plan vacations. Its my fault, I hate video games. If I were a true "sport" I suppose I'd learn to play them. My Dh's grandma had 5 boys and a girl. She decided to take an interest in their interests to stay involved with them and I think it was smart thinking, she could converse about sports at every level, stayed up on all the stats. I just can't get onboard with the Xbox thing, it makes me quesy just looking at the screen for those driving games. Hopefully they'll get into following sports or something I can do. They start baseball and soccer next week.

He introduced my boys to every game system known to mankind and it's been downhill all the way. Now my DD6 is getting into the whole Pokemon/video game thing, much to my chagrin. It doesn't help that the majority of kids she plays with in our neighborhood are boys. She can be a girly girl but she also knows how to play with the boys. No prissy girl here. My oldest DS15 isn't as into the whole gaming thing as much as DS13 (he needs a 12 step program and the patch)! It's a no win situation.

although my little man has a ton of games for his PS2 and Gameboy, he doesn't really play them that much. Kevin isn't that in the video games (thank you man above for that one!) so he doesn't have someone to play with. He prefers to ride his bike so I'm okay so far.

We are going to Toys R Us tomorrow so he can get Madden '07 for PS2. He has gift cards from his b-day so I can't really say no

My younger one also seems to be the one more likely to get obsessed with it. When free time comes after homework, youngest grabs xbox and older one hits the tv, so I guess he's more like me. People always say he more resembles me and the younger one is a mini-me to DH so I guess looks match up a bit with personality in this case. You're DH would probably like talking to mine, he likes to talk video games. Amazing enough, he doesn't play as much as he spends time acquiring and building. He's built two "arcade" machines that play the old games from when we were growing up. It doesn't take much computer space to run pacman and such. Course these are huge, yet prized, dust collectors for the most part. (That we can never get rid of because he built them.) The kids play the latest and greatest technology so play Xbox.

Ain't that the truth! The mom thing amazes me sometimes like when I'm lying on the floor beside them on the couch waiting for when they wake with the next vomiting cycle with the flu. It doesn't seem like a chore at all, like its just where I want to be.
