Disney Wonder Sept 3-7, 2006 Part 2

Yep!! Orlando's Sea World is very nice!! I have always enjoyed Sea World. We use to have one in Ohio about 2-3 hours away but they closed it! What a shame!

As I was not feeling well the few days prior, I did not do as much as normally.

We went and had a nice buffet dinner at the Tropicana Casino ,gambled a little,and walked on the beach. I did draw a giant heart in sand with our names on it ... I already know what I am doing next year.. a giant 10' diameter balloon saying happy anniversary filled with helium tethered to my lawn. I found out too late this year to do it.

I am really struggling here so I need some pixie dust.

My former Director and I had a lunch meeting today. My old boss (the Assistant Director) got a promotion to another area leaving an opening. My Director wants me to come back and is offering a healthy raise and lots of learning/development/advancement potential. She is retiring in 5 years and being the Asst will give me a really good shot at her job if the climate is right. When I worked for her previously it was good in terms of gaining knowledge and she was good at increasing my salary HOWEVER she has these emotional outbursts when she is stressed. Essentially she lacks a filter for her frustration. Now I NEVER experienced this personally. Others did and I heard two incidents in the 18 months I worked for her.

Sorry this is too long. I guess I'm nervous to go back but at the same time it is such a great opportunity. I love my current boss but essentially I have no where to advance to at my current job. I can love my co-workers and environment but it doesn't pay the bills or get me on a 7 day cruise either.

I guess I just need Pixie Dust to help me figure out what to do. I have to give her a decision tomorrow morning.

Regarding your concerns about the outbursts. I worked for company for 15 years and worked for some of the "toughest" bosses people thought existed.
They used to yell and scream at other people but not me. While the person may be your boss, it does not give them the right to yell or scream at you or anyone else,and you cannot allow that happen more than one time. If it did occur, you need to say that yelling or screaming is not professional and you would appreciate it if they did not speak to you in that manner again. My experience is that most people get treated the way they do because they allow it to continue. I would not let this stand in your way..your current boss could leave tomorrow and you would be stuck with someone who could be worse than both of them.

Bill I think that is awesome advice. I used to work for a guy that some considered a tyrannt. In my 3 years there over 50 people were fired and he would have major meltdowns. In that whole time he never pointed his anger toward me. I really think he knew I was a good employee and would have never allowed someone to treat me that way or I would have left in a heartbeat.

I am sure whatever you did was great. It is nice to see men who take the time to plan something out. You can tell you truly love your wife.

I'm taking it. I talked with her again this morning and I feel confident in my ability to manage the staff and prevent any embers from flaming. She is pretty much letting me set it up however I see fit plus it was a lot of money. I start 9/18.

ALERT,ALERT Okay gang, I spent a good amount of time speaking with my dining contact. Please PM me the cabin numbers for your group, she sent me a seating chart and she wants cabin numbers and last names. Have the names some of you are missing cabin numbers. Plus I want to make sure what I have is still correct.

Lisa- I tried to PM you but your box is too full. Clean that up hahahaha. They cannot gtd a table for 10. what do you want to do if they can't. An option is to assign you a 6 and 4 top with the same server and then request a 10 top table. Just can't gtd it. Sorry This is a lot harder than I thought!

It's very true. I've met a lot of folks from the midwest and they have pointed this "distinct sound" out to me on several occasions. Not much I can do about it, I'm a displaced (or is it MISplaced) Jerseyite and proud of it. My kids are Florida crackers though.
