rant away, mine starts two weeks from tomorrow. I just bought all his school supplies to beat the rush. You would think the increased property taxes would cover something!
I have heard so many people say that. Our school supplies are included. Even lined paper. I have to buy stuff we need at home of course but it never amounts to anything.

Wow, I thought are schools started early with August 16. When did you guys get out? We got out June 15 (I think).

Yes, I will definitely be doing some grocery shopping. Not what I planned on doing on vacation. Thanks for all the info everyone. :thumbsup2

Did anyone get upgraded yet? I am sure we won't because we got the discount already. :rotfl: Did anyone get their package with luggage tags?
I still don't even know when my flight is.

School starts August 9th. We got out the Friday before Memorial Day (May 26th I think)

No upgrades yet. In some ways I don't want one. My kid is an early riser. I figure if there is no window, no sunlight can come in and rouse him. I really do not want to be up at 6:45am every morning on vacation. :sad2: He goes all day long from sun up to sun down. I really hope they let him in the lab so I can get down time.

I remember getting out in early June and going back after Labor Day. The kids hardly get a break now.

I have a question. Why do some of you have the red triangle looking thing that says report bad post. :confused3

Bad News

Kerry I am on deck 5 and I kind of want to stay there so I know what you mean. If you don't mind me asking why wouldn't they let your son in the lab.

Mike and I will be using DCL Transfers since I'm back in WV now.
Originally he was flying into JAX and I was just going to drive to port from Gainesville..

After three days of hassle I got his ticket changed to Orlando (for only $17, phew.) and bought myself a flight with airline credit left over from when I went to Europe (Only cost me $4.90)... so, I actually think things are working out cheaper than they would have if you think about the gas and parking costs!!

He will be 7 and the lab is 8 and up. However, he is tall for a 7 year so I think I will be able to get him in on a trial basis. He was 5 the last time and thoughtthe club was babyish then. Most the kids he plays with are older than him.

I bought my first grader's supplies but the 8th and 10th graders don't get theirs until the first day of school. It makes that night a real joy...the stores are unbelievably packed with people in the same situation and supplies get picked through quickly.,,,,especially when the teachers ask for obscure things. The best part is that the teachers expect the supplies the NEXT DAY! Too bad I can't cut them checks and let THEM buy the stuff. We have huge supply lists for all three kids. It's a wonder we don't have to supply the toilet paper. :rotfl2:

We are in the midst of a tax-free week for purchasing school supplies and clothing. I had already bought the supplies that my DD needed but I may try to pick up some clothes and take advantage of no tax.

The general consensus that I get is that they will move them up once if you request it. Some folks seem to say they have to be within a month of their birthday but others say it's much more flexible than that. I'd just talk to them when you get there. I'd be very surprised if they said no.

ICK...I'm not ready for school!

My kid is the direct opposite of yours. She'll sleep til noon but then stay up til 2 a.m. Makes life interesting come school time. At least she's able to turn herself around quickly. Last year I had her in bed between 7 & 8 so I can't complain. So much for my mom thinking I'm the most awful mother in the world for letting her 6 year old stay up late. :rotfl:

I think you'll see that triangle on everyone's posts but your own. It's to report a post to the moderators. I've never heard of anyone using it but I'm sure it happens.

I posted this before but I think with all my other issues it got lost.

What are you ladies wearing? (Bill already answered ;) )

my wardrobe:

1st night: cute linen skirt with matching tank (it's from Ann Taylor so it's a nice feminine tank) 2nd night: Palos-my little black dress :smooth: 3rd night: Pirate night! pirate: khaki capris and my black top that laces. It laces like the pirate shirts. Trying to find some cute pirate jewelry to go with it. 4th night: muted orange/pink (not bright) strapless sundress from the gap outlet.

I will bring some shorts and tops for the rest of the time. I am trying not to overpack (which I almost always do)

I'm torn... I have a few nice capri outfits but I don't know if they're too casual. During the day I have more casual capris and polo shirts (I don't do shorts any more...too pooh shaped for my own liking). To be honest, I'd live in jeans (even in Florida) but then my DD would want to wear hers all the time and I am trying to discourage that. (She is so into jeans she'd rather wear them than anything else. It's a real battle every day getting her to wear a skort, or God forbid, shorts!) I have two nice dresses that I could bring but I would rather wear the capris. If anytihing, I'd wear one of the dresses to Palo for dinner but other than that I'm not sure I'd use them.

For all I have read, on the Wonder that is fine. Not for Palo but for all the other night's. I live in capris and DBF likes skirts so I figured I had an excuse might as well. Pirate night will be the capri night. Figure we will be sitting outside most the night and I don't want to have to change with the party going on.

That's the impression that I"ve gotten as well. Especially since they've changed the dress code to allow jeans in the dining rooms. None of the capris that I'm thinking of wearing to dinner are even denim, so I'm sure I'll be within the guidelines. I may throw the dresses in just in case, they won't take up a lot of room in my luggage.

I have heard they will let you move one time but you can't move back. I think they will try to make you and him happy. I have no idea what I am wearing yet. My DH and DD(10) are going white water rafting with Trail Blazers this weekend so I need to do some serious shopping while they are gone. I just need to unload DD(3) on someone. :rotfl:
