I'm so glad someone else asked about the black spots. I had no idea. That's cool about the origin though. I say homeade ones sound great!!! I'm going to let my kids know what they were for I'm sure they will get a kick out of it. My kids are psyched if someone gives them a rubberband or an envelope lol. they find a use for everything!!!!!

Suzanne

Ps I'm envisioning waking up with a black spot laying on my chest and my 6 year old standing over with me with her hand on her hip saying sorry mom but you p****ed me off yesterday and now you must go Hahahahahahah :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We are leaving for vacation for 4 days tomorrow and I really need to start packing ugh We rented cabins in the Adirondacks with 5 other families and I know we will have such a great time but it's so hard to pack for this kind of trip. You need to bring soooo much and I just can't get motivated to pull out jeans and sweatshirts.

Patsy Rink is sooo cute. I think he knows it too lol "oh yea I'm cute uh huh"

Suz

Taeja I use uncooked bread to keep moisture ot of homade cookies and such but never used with salad?? :confused3

:lmao: Oh great, I'm in trouble. I opened the salad bag, put the lettice in the bowl I'm going to use, put on two layers of papertowels, and flipped the salad upside down with the lid on. Ok. I'll thow in a slice of bread. Maybe that will speed up the process.

Good luck packing Suzanne! I'll get my family reunion foods together some time before 1:00 today.

But you know, I HAD to check to see if any one replied to my quick question.

Vicki I love all your pictures from kayaking I've never been to Pittsburgh but it looks like a cool city. My bil is from Uniontown and is over the top about anything Pittsburgh.

Thanks! Glad you like them! :thumbsup2

Quick! I need help! Using bread, how do you keep the moisture out? toasted or untoasted? I've got salad lettice that I need to pull the moisture out from.

meant to comment on Rink too. what a cutie! Vicki, looks like you had great kayaking waters. Reesie our lab isn't fond of water (the hose). We'd like to get her to a body of water (our lake aka resivour), but sadly we haven't, bad doggie parents! PItts looks beautiful!

Dont know about the bread thing. We did but got rained on on the way back! Ginger Loves the hose, pool, river, shower but is not to fond of rain. Go figure.
Pittsburgh is a beautiful city!

LOL Well, mine aren't terribly authentic. The ones on deadmentellnotales.com are basically wooden nickels that are black on one side, and say "The Black Spot" on the other. I bought wooden disks, colored one side black, and wrote "The Black Spot" on the other. Very copycat. :rolleyes1 But mine are hand-made. :rotfl: I think they look good,
Sounds good to me. How would the kids KNOW what was on deadmentellnotales.com?

but you know how kids can be sometimes...I mean, I make costumes for the whole family and the kids always prefer store-bought.
I don't get that either. When DH wanted me to wear a Disney Catalog Snow White costume for Halloween on the 2002 Halloween MAGIC cruise I was NOT DISAPPOINTED to learn that they did not have any more so I would HAVE to make my own :rotfl2:

Of course, I'm really really hoping the kids will think they're cute and not horrifyingly frightening because of the Robert Louis Stevenson connection...
How would they know--have they read Treasure Island? I think they might be more scared because Jack Sparrow's hand sometimes had a growing black spot on it and he was scared of that. It the movie did not worry them, they may have no idea what the heck the black "coin" is anyway. Little ones could be told it is a way to tell someone he has been naughty--give him the spot instead of yelling at him.

I'm headed to the Disney Store tomorrow...show of hands, who is making their own shirts, and who bought them? We might just do the wristbands, but we need to know what peer pressure says. :lmao:
No shirts and no wrist bands. But then again, remember, I am the one whose DH knows about you guys but not DS#1, DS#2 or DF.

Oh, by the way, one of my black spots is for the Renaissance Festival. We have a Jack Sparrow impersonator (he's not period, but he's very good and very entertaining) and on the last weekend, my husband will present him with three presents. He's going to get a jug of rum, a jar of sand with a little heart in it, and a black spot. I'm thinking I might take a video camera to catch this... :rotfl2: Dawn G.
VERY GOOD

OoooHHHH! Now I got it! Can you hear the ding from the lightbulb turning on now?? Jan, my brain leaks premenopausal, so will I have any hope?
Start now telling people your brain leaks and then they will not expect more of you than you can deliver.

dolphinlover invaded our thread. That's why I refered to our thread getting infected, infected by an invader. We should make him walk the plank, but pirate: I think dolphinlover's moved on.
So what was the deal with his question then? "I Will trade for stitch hat" Any idea?

we are in CNY too. We live in Cicero and I grew up in Syracuse and my DH in Baldwinsville. We ended up meeting our senior year of college in Geneseo. The weird part is that he played lacrosse for Bishop Ludden high school and I kept stats for my high school boys team so we were at the same place many times but never knew each other. How we never met at Geneseo the 1st 3 years is strange too since it's such a small campus. We like it here for the most part but could do without such a loooooonnnnggg winter. ;)

Suzanne
:woohoo: :cool1: UPSTATE NEW YORK!! All RIGHT! :cool1: :woohoo:
My best buddy from High School went to Geneseo. She lives in Canajoharie, teaches special education at the graduate level at Saint Rose and sometimes SUNY Albany and has been Chairman of Special Ed at a nearby school district. She is a Special Ed GURU!! and is married to a funeral director.
My mother still lives in the Whitesboro home we grew up in. She has Alzheimers' and my brother is her live-in caregiver, so the UNY connection still exists. My sister lives in Alabama.
I understand about the
looooooonnnnggg winter
and don't miss it AT ALL!!

You and DH did not meet earlier because it was not the RIGHT TIME.

Patsy,

Rink is very cute. I was looking at pug's but they have a lot of problems because of their faces. I also heard they can't swim and we have a pool that is not gated. Does anyone know about this? We are getting way to close to our trip. I am feeling the pressure now. What is going on with the other threads? I missed it! :cool1:

So I finally get motivated to pack for this camping trip and decide to not think about disney cruise anymore today and my fil calls to say "Guess what? Debbie(his girlfriend) and I are coming on the cruise! I booked it yesterday and am online now trying to get on your same flight 9/2"

So, what is a stitch hat?
Jan :earsgirl:

My best guess is the hat they have at the parks. It looks like the top half of Stitch's (from Lilo and Stitch) head, complete with teeth. It kind of creeps me out, actually. :scared:

These are my babies.....

0001pp0f.jpg

Oscar is the dog from my avatar, looking at the camera. He is SharPei mixed with Boxer (wrinkles and jowls galore!), we've had him since he was 4 months old. Noggin is the white Staffie (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) who has only been with us for a few weeks but is already taking porch-guarding duty very seriously.

Another pic of Nog:

0001gx50.jpg

They are both HUGE babies. It's so funny, because if someone were to come and look in my window they would NEVER try to break in. But I think all they would do is lick you to death, or roll over and demand that their bellies be rubbed.

I went to place my order at deadmen and they had no yo yo's. I just ordered pin wheels and crayons. I am going to look at the party store for yo yo's or something. They are taking 3 weeks to ship because they are so busy with the movie the website said. I was cutting it close. If anyone else needs to order from them I would do it right away.

Your babies are so cute. I know, I am afraid of the little dog's biting me more than the big ones. My rottie would not even hurt a fly. She licked way to much though. :thumbsup2
