I just hope twinkle does not misbehave. :rotfl: You picked a good time to catch up no one is here.
It has taken me all afternoon. Good thing the Cardinals were on TV so DH was busy. Too bad they lost.

My imaginary friend was Rickie. No one ever knew if it was a boy or girl :confused3 apparently they never asked or I never told. As soon as my baby brother was old enough to play with I stopped talking about Rickie. No one tried to talk me out of it though and I think that is good. Imagination is a delicate thing--don't want to destroy the creativity of a poet or author!!

i don't ever remember having an imaginary friend. this could be because i got a sister the day before my first birthday. and then 2 more sisters came along within a couple more years. guess i never really needed one.

Vicki I'll bet the discount wouldn't be much better than the 10% discount and stateroom credit for booking onboard :confused3

Those are cute too. You are going to have the best dressed feet on the cruise.

I didn't order a wristband, so I figure you can find me by looking at my shoes :rotfl:

we'll be walking around saying... 'hey! i know those shoes!' :rotfl2:

sugaswim, I thought about you today when my husband and I were running.....after 2 miles as we were trying not to die, I thought, how could you go 24 more? Gah!

:faint:

We may join you on the cruise track, but as a warning......when you turn around and we're gone, it's because we gave up trying to catch you :teeth:

haha yeah 26 is crazy. i don't know whatever possessed me to do it. i think it was cause i wanted to do something 'big' since i wasn't swimming anymore. either that or spending 14 years in a pool my brain has been damaged from chlorine... but it's hard to motivate yourself to go out and run for the heck of it. but it gives me an actual reason to do it. that and the fact that it was disney helped the appeal to me ;)

you're more than welcome to run with me! i love running with other people. and it's not like i sprint or anything, since i run so far. i'm getting up tomorrow to do 5 miles before work. should be fun :rotfl:

but yeah if you're interested in running with me maybe we can figure out a time or something to do it!

actually the guy i'm seeing laughed when he found out i did a marathon and was doing another one. he was like you know the story of what a marathon is right? i said of course i do. he was like ok, it just seems weird that a guy runs 26 miles to deliever a message, and dies when he gets there and you want to put yourself through that. i said well i guess i am a little crazy :lmao:

I swam all my childhood and through high school. Then I managed a swim school for 13 years. When my kids go swimming in our pool I want to puke. I usually just watch them. It has to be pretty hot for me to get in.

Sugaswim Just out of curiosity Why don't you still swim?

Suzanne

hmmm i guess that might help to explain! hehe... well i started swimming when i was 8 and i did it for 14 years. swam all the way through my senior year of college. i guess you could say i was good. i hate saying i was good at it, i don't really like to sound like i'm bragging or anything. but i swam at nationals, i swam at the world cup, i have team records on every team i swam for. i was once ranked 12th in the country. i got a full ride to college. i missed my olympic trial cut by .08 seconds in the 200 butterfly back in 2000. so yeah, i was pretty good... anyways... most girls get slower as they get older. usually you're at your best when you're around 15ish and you're going through puberty. but once you get through it you kind of hit a wall. a lot of girls who were fast growing up that i knew never did all 4 years at college. actually my sister is struggling with swimming. she isn't anywhere near what her best times are. and a lot of my friends at my school went through it. it's hard to know you have this time that's fast, you're still training just as hard and doing just as well at practice if not better than when you were younger. but yet at a meet, when it comes down to it, you can't beat your best time or even get within 5 seconds of it. well apparently i'm an acception to this rule. i kept getting faster. every year i was getting best times. so at the end of my senior college season i 'retired' like most people did. but it left a big hole. i had been doing it for so long and it was all i had ever known. and i knew that with the proper training i could get even faster still. how many girls at 22 are still getting best times? not many. so that fall i joined a club team that trains crazy and has had many olympians come out of it. i just mostly wanted to get that trial cut i never managed to get. and to break 2:00 in my 200 fly... i got down to a 2:02... but the hours for practice did not work out real well with my work schedule. i had to get up so early for morning workout. and then i was going to have to skip out on work early to get to afternoon workout. well, there was one day about 2 weeks in (we were only training in the mornings) when i realized just how tired it was making me. with a job where i'm driving all day long it's not really good to think, i'm going to shut my eyes for 2 seconds. this happened to me one day driving down the highway and i was like you know what, this isn't working. so i had to give it up. i called the coach and talked to him for a while. he was like if you want to just do afternoon workouts that's fine. you're an older swimmer, you know the kind of training you need, and you're more experienced and knowledgable than the other kids in the group. i would have loved to but i know i would have needed to do those morning workouts. so i had to give it up. it's now 2 years later and i miss it so much. i live for competition. i loved meets. i loved getting up on the blocks and racing my heart. swimming fast is so much fun. i wish i could do it. i mean i go up to my local pool and do laps, but it's not the same. i want to do the hard core swimming i know and love. so now i run. it's a little bit easier to fit into my schedule and it's not quite as time consuming as swimming.

I layed on the diving board today while the girls swam. Does that count as swimming?? :rotfl2: :lmao:

haha yeah. swimming is very time consuming. my kids have to really really really want to do it. my parents put so much time and money into the sport. granted it paid off, i didn't have to pay for school. and i did love it, so it's not like their time or money was wasted and they loved going to the really big meets for the really fast swimming. but i can't imagine all they went through for it. i thanked them for it.

hehe sure... that's what a lot of my swimming is now... playing on the diving board. laying out in the sun... and the few laps that i do... actually i'm going to start swimming 2000 meters in the afternoons after work on top of my running. want to be in really good shape come january
