Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

I rebooked for march next year - cannot wait!!!!

The storm was fine, it wasnt raining for the drill (as far as I can remember) & they did move the sail away party inside, which was sad, they still did the same show - encouraging the kids to dance with them, although we were packed into the lobby like sardines, & were getting poked in the eyes with those tinsel things

The rain didnt matter, it was awesome!

Welcome home!


I know it is early to see trip reports but I remember you guys cruised out of LA during that horrible storm. Was it pretty bad on the ship? How did they handle the lifeboat drill? Was the sail away party moved indoors?

I'm planning on starting a trip report tonight. I got some crazy photos of huge waves as we were struggling to get out of port! It was a rough night for sure but I have had equally rough seas on the Magic.

Thanks for the FEs - it was fun finding goodies throughout the week. It was a nice surprise for the kiddos. Hope everyone had as much fun as we did - we already are looking at doing another one next year.

a big thank you from the Bookites as well!! my mil was SO surprised by all that we received, lol! she had no idea what to expect, and tho i did to some extent due to posts here, i was still very impressed and excited!! thank you SO very much!! and also a big thank you to vegaslover for the great kids gifts handed out on saturday at diversions!!

i actually thought the waves were fun, going in and out w/ one exception, if i could have just blocked out the massive amounts of CREAKING our room did on the way in, lol! we did miss the sail away party (wasn't willing to risk losing an eye :giggle and really missed having 2-3 extra days at the pool but still...no regrets, we figure we saved over $100 in just the 3D movies we saw. the only one that was a repeat for us was tangled.

my kids are proudly announcing to their classes today that the ate escargot, lol!

as for rebooking, we have 3 more planned, one for each year til our oldest is 12 and had planned to book next year's caribbean one on board but the dates we have available are on the fantasy. we were told only verandahs were available and it was more than we (and those planning to join us) were willing to spend. so we are :fingerscrossed: that we can find an inside stateroom and/or kids sail free sometime before now and june 2012.

I also want to say thank you for the fabulous FE gifts--I am amazed by the creativity and generosity! My husband was totally not enthralled with the idea before we left, especially with the amount of room the gifts took up in the suitcase. But when he saw what we received in return and how thrilled the kids were to run up to the room and check for "presents" his mind was changed.

We had the most amazing time as well. Wish we would have had more time, so we booked another cruise too. We booked a dummy date on the Fantasy for 2012 because we really want to go in 2013...but that depends on what the Wonder is going to be doing in 2012. We really want to do the LA to Vancouver repo if they do it again.

I plan to do a trip report as well, but I need to wade through the 4000+ photos on my camera, plus the photos on my kids' cameras.

OMG, the FE gifts we received were so incredible and creative! My dh is already on my case to step it up on our offerings for next cruise! He was really impressed by all the custom labeling so many in our group used. What an incredibly creative bunch you all are. LOVED the custom Lanyards, The personalized notebooks, the waterproof key carrier, picture frame and photobook, all the snacks for the movies, pirate gear and glow sticks, I could go on and on...Thank you all so much.

I also want to thank cruisindisney for organizing this for our group. I was so overwhelmed by all there was to do on the ship, I never got to meet you as I completely spaced it on the kids meet the first day. My dd Makenna went, thanks to Lissame/ Melissa ), as our daughters were inseparable most of the cruise.

This was our 1st cruise and it was by far our BEST vacation ever! I want to do the Fantasy 7 day Western Caribbean in 2013 but had no idea about the "dummy" bookings? What is that about?

I thank you for your daughter as well...Grace cried all morning yesterday because she said "I just don't want to leave Makenna". But they have been messaging each other already, so that helps.

We booked a dummy date onboard. Basically, they just book you a similar cruise to what you want to eventually book later, and you have until a certain time (for us, the dummy date they booked is October 2012, so we have until July 2012) to change the date without penalty. Then when they release the dates you want (2013 probably in Oct of this year) you can change it.

We really should coordinate our efforts because Fantasy in 2013 is what we want to do also, I think the girls would be in heaven.

I agree...there was so much to do that we missed a lot. Like the kids meet on Saturday. We really wanted to be there, but decided to to the afternoon showing of Disney Dreams instead and didn't make it.

Actually, what Tai did was ask how many people we had, which category we wanted, and how long a cruise we wanted to go on. Then he found us space. The one we eventually choose doesn't need to be the same itinerary or even the same ship we booked as a dummy date.

Sounds perfect. We are in Tucson. We usually get annual passes for DL but are taking a break right now. Probably gonna get some in 2012 w/ Carsland opening so maybe we'll see you there too

I just read a random comment somewhere that DVC members have 3 business days after the cruise to book a cruise and still qualify for the onboard booking discount? Can anyone confirm this is true? I want to do a dummy booking on the Fantasy for 2012 and then shift it over to the 2013 sail dates when they become available.

Thank you again for everyone and the FE gifts! I wanted to do more with the group but with family here and on thier 1st Disney cruise (first cruise really) we were so busy!

I loved the custom lanyards and all of the albums, glow sticks, candy etc! We loved putting our FE gifts together and hope that some of the kids had fun trading thier pins!

The 3 day thing is if you filled out a card onboard and didn't get a chance to talk to Tai about the rebooking. FOr 3 days, they will contact guests and they can still get the price and perks. Sorry
