Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

Any way for our DD's to get to know each other is fine. A facebook page for our cruise date would be awesome. Then they could chat over there or message or whatever. My dd is constantly on her facebook!:scared1: This will be my dd's first time as a teen on DCL so kind of scary territory being without her brother. Any friends she can make before the cruise would really make for an awesome time for her. She can be shy and not very outgoing in new situations. But facebook might great for the getting to know each other!
Let me know if you need help with the facebook setup. My dh knows how to do that. He set one up for his firefighters union.

My daughter is 14, but will be 15 at time of sailing..... would love to get something together so they can at least be familiar with each other by the time of the cruise. Maybe a FB Page? let me know what you think, and I can probably figure out how to create one for them..... : )

One more thing..... we are gty so we don't have a cabin number yet. Will let you know when it comes. Thanks Cyndi!

cyndi, i think we will have 4 cabins. dh has been in charge of the actual booking stuff and getting info from his fam but he isn't good about passing it on. i'll call my mil and sil and get all the details. i also don't have our cabin # or know if we even have one. i'll call dh and find out then post.

also, i didn't get a pm but i'd like to help w/ the FE organizing. i mentioned it in one of the first posts on this thread. if you dont' need any more help, just let me know.

sorry tried to reply directly to your post but missed cking the box to include the quote of your op...will do it on the one w/ all the info.

Hi everyone. Did we end up getting a facebook page. My daughters would love to get on it and meet the kids their own ages.
thanks

Facebook page is called the Dis Amigos Fiesta Cruise. Become a fan and you will be able to post comments, pictures ect.

mil has bought a nice princess dress for her dd that she wants to make sure she gets pics of her in. she was asking me if there would be places to do that or if she would need to get candid shots? so, are there places/times that pro pics are taken on the ship? if so when? on cruises i've been on before (non disney) i only remember it being at dinner and maybe only one night (formal?) what has your picture experience been with dcl?

also, she asked me about character meals. i told her i thought this was something we would have to sign up for once we were paid in full and also after jan 4th(?) is that correct? also, is there more than one character meal to choose from? and is there an additional charge for dining w/ the characters/princesses rather than in a regular dining room? we definitely want to do one so we want to be prepared to jump on the opportunity.

thanks everyone!!

Hi Cyndi,

We don't have our cabin # yet, we are currently gty.

Thanks!

Thanks Carol for setting up the facebook page! I sent the link on over to my other friends who are on our cruise so they can join.

For those who are flying, does anyone have any suggestions about how to get to the port? We will be flying in the day before, and I am not sure if I need to rent a car or if there is some type of shuttle that we can take.

It will really depend on how many people you have, what day you are flying in on, where you plan to stay, what else you plan to do, etc. LOL.

There are quite a few options

1. Fly in on Saturday to either LAX, SNA, or LGB. Take a taxi or shuttle to your hotel right near the port.
2. Fly in on Saturday, rent a car at your airport, stay the night anywhere you want in the area, drop your car off at a rental agency near the port.
3. Fly in on another day--either rent a car or use taxi, shuttle, or Disneyland shuttle bus (from SNA only to DLR area hotels), stay in a hotel, get a shuttle, taxi to port or return your car near the port...

There are so many options. But nothing is free in California. The port in San Pedro (aka Port of Los Angeles) is the home port for all cruise lines cruising out of the area except Carnival. So it's not a Disney exclusive port.

At this point, our plans are to fly from Portland, Or (PDX) to whichever airport we can get the cheapest flight on either Southwest or JetBlue, fairly early on Saturday morning. We'll rent a car at the airport and stay the night at the Candy Cane Inn near Disneyland (have a coupon). We are debating getting one day tickets to Disneyland for Saturday because we just can't stay away :) Then my husband will drop us and the luggage off at the port, he'll go return the car and walk to meet us. I'm trying to see which car rental companies are closest to the port.

So much planning!

sorry guys, one more question from me. for some reason i'm thinking the dcl green is more lime than emerald/kelly green, is that right? tia!

Princess and RCL cruise out of San Pedro, RCL cruises leave on Saturday and Disney and NCL leave on Sundays. The port is very easy to get to, but all the cars on the road can make it a long ride from LAX which is only 23 miles to the port. You take the 405 south to the 110, get off on Harbor and you are there. If you fly in anytime on Friday, expect a long ride to where ever you are going. If you fly in early Sat morning traffic is not to bad before 10.

We will be driving down on Saturday and should be in San Pedro around 1:00 so planning is easy for us in that respect.

Hola! (practicing my spanish : ) there are SEVERAL opportunities for pictures every day.... Beginning in the evening, there are several backdrops set all around the main atrium to choose from. You can do solid backgrounds, or themes. And, there is hardly ever anyone waiting because they are going on all the time, so families don't feel pressured to hurry hurry hurry.....

Also, if I remember correctly, DCL doesn't take pics of you in the dining rooms. You are free to eat, and ONLY eat, and then worry about pics either before or after dinner.

Also, a character breakfast is included with each 7 night sailing. When you check in, and reach your room, you will find an envelope that will have tickets for any excursions you booked, along with tickets to your assigned Character breakfast. You don't really need the tickets, they are just a way of letting you know when yours is happening. Since you will be eating Breakfast either in the Dining room, in your room, or out on deck at one of the buffets, they want to make sure you know your assigned day so you don't miss it!! There is no charge for this, and it's just a general character breakfast.
all the gang is there, and they come over to your table so you can take your own pictures, for as long as you want, as many as you want. It's great!!

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help you out with.

Cyndi

One more thing.....I need to have cabin numbers from everyone.....

Please reply to THIS post with your cabin number, and I will note it on my master list.

Also, I have sent a few PM's to some cruisers requesting information.... Thanks for responding! Cyndi

We are in cabin #6520. All other information you have for us is correct!

thanks cyndi that info was exactly what i was looking for. btw whilst i have your attention, did you get my pm?

I did get your PM. I have you all updated, and just awaiting your cabin numbers when you get them. Also, I would LOVE some help. My DH thinks i'm crazy for doing this anyways, but I love to be involved just like you.

As the list keeps growing, I'm wondering what your thoughts are on keeping it to one group, or breaking it up into several groups? Right now we are just around 50 cabins, and 3 to 4 people per cabin. When you add it up, it seems pretty high. I don't know how groups in the past have handled it, but feedback is appreciated.
