I was just wondering if anyone has ever visited Disney World the week of Christmas. I am also wondering if anyone has tried to attend the telivised parade from WDW on Christmas Day. We are considering this. My 11 yr old daughter wants to go to the parade so badly!!(hoping she'll get to see some of those Disney Channel stars) We also have a 6 year old and a 2 1/2 yr old. What do you all think?? I would love to hear from anyone who has attempted a visit during this time!! Thanks!!

The Christmas Parade doesn't take place on Christmas....sorry! If she really wants to see it live then you have to go the first weekend in December. It's usally taped taped the first Friday and Saturday. Taping starts early, like 7am and you have to pre-sign up to get in. It makes for a very long day.

Who Knew????? Not me I guess:confused: Well that changes a lot!! I'd still like to know just how busy it is that week if anyone can let me know!! Also do you know how you sign up for the parade???? In case we can go the week it is taped. Thanks:)

it's crazy busy that week and the week after. Some parks close due to capacity very early on Christmas Day

Unless something has changed from last year, there is no need to sign up to watch the parade. You may have to sign up if you want to be near the front of the parade where the cameras are, but you can also just arrive early and stand on the curb along Main Street. If you stand near the castle, you can see the performers up close while they are stopped and waiting for the people in front of them in the parade to perform. It's not like your regular Disney parade. Since they are taping for television, it takes hours and hours while they start and stop and start and stop while Kelly and Regis read their lines before each performance. But it really is fun to see.

To watch some of the non-parade performances, you do need to make advance reservations.

Do you know how to make the reservations or how to find out what performances will be going on? Thanks!!

My husband said that he thinks DVC members and those with annual passes have the chance to get tickets to see these performances. We received an email saying that there would be a performance on X morning at such and such a time and that we could order tickets for it. They were then mailed to us at home. (They didn't get there before we left for our vacation, but that's another story.) But we didn't know who was performing. I seem to remember that it was really early in the morning- before the park opened, and we needed that ticket to get into the park.

But you are able to see some non-parade performances without tickets- we saw John O'Hurley perform in '05 and Andrea Bocelli last year.

I'm like you, though. Prior to our '05 trip I had no idea that the Christmas Parade was taped! We just happened to be there on that weekend and saw signs about it. None of the CMs we asked knew what stars would be in it, though (or at least they weren't telling!).

Wow! That's interesting! I wish i knew a way to get my hands on some tickets. It would make my daughter's "life" if she got to see any of her favotite Disnaey channel stars (or at least she thinks it would:cloud9: ) Anyway if anyone has any ideas for me I'd really appreciate it!!:cheer2:

We went on Christmas in 2005 and let me tell you about the crowd :crowded: I knew this was going to be a busy day in the MK but WOW!!! Not to mention that every one was lined up on main street waiting for the Christmas Day Parade that is not recorded on Christmas. I was abit upset about that. Anyway, needless to say, it rained that day and the power went out in MK. All the rides, stores and all were closed. What do you do? We waited on some portch for like 3 hrs and no rides were running yet so we called it a day.
DH and I have decided never to go to MK for Christmas Day again.

Sorry for hogging this thread! If you just want to see the parade, you can arrive early and stand along Main Street. No ticket or preregistration needed. In '05 my daughter got to see Aly and AJ and the Cheetah Girls. Last year we just missed the cast from High School Musical. But we did see the Doodlebops. I know- yippee. Not as exciting for her as it would have been for my 3yo son!
