I am planning a trip to Disney with four adults, a nine year old, a three year old and two year old triplets. Does anyone have any advice on discounts, cost savers, etc. I have tried to research a trip through the Disney Site, but the costs are outrageous. Anyone been there and done that?

Welcome to the Dis! You have found the perfect place for all your research and info, ask away! As a Mom of 6, (have only ever had 4 at a time in parks), I have found Disney can be done affordablly and enjoyably.

Free dining is from Aug26 through Sept 22 and there are still rooms left to be had. We found if Disney is feeding us, we can afford a bit more for a room!

Downtown Disney also has some nice hotels and double tree has huge rooms that are suites and include breakfast

best way to save money tho, is to read, read, read and find out all you can before you go.

I will be watching this thread, my GF just had triplets in Jan and has a 5 year old. She knows we went last year and was asking about going in the next few years. Maybe I will be a disney planner when I grow up,:rotfl: (I'm 36)

Your best cost-savings is the fact that the triplets are <3 years, so they're free. In any Disney accommodation you get, one of them wouldn't count toward room occupancy. So, I don't know "who belongs to who" but all 9 can stay in 2 regular rooms. Children less than 3 also don't need to pay to enter the parks or to eat at buffets or eat off others' plates at other restaurants.
We also find that packing our own breakfast and many of the snacks saves us money.
AAA also has discounts on rooms (and a little on tickets) that might more than save the cost of joining. One adult can join and book up to 2 rooms.

Have fun! Sounds like a great crowd to be traveling with.

Hi! I found it has been pretty easy so far. I have GGGB quadruplets that are going again in Sept. for the FREE dining. It will be their 4th trip. It was so afforadable before they were 3 years old. Now, I am investing in season passes for them so that we can afford to go more often. The airfare seems to be a big expense for me but there is no way I will drive to Orlando from PA with them. Also, I usually stay @ POR but when you have a group, 2 values may be the way to go. I have always done breakfast in the room before heading out to the parks and then we have lunch and dinner in the parks or @ the resort dining area. If you have any specific questions, PM me.

Well unfortunately it seems there really aren't that many discounts out there that I could find. Eat big breakfast and early dinner. I have to tell you our first trip was at 2 1/2 years and it was rough. I also had 2 babysitters with us. They (triplets) kinda ran the show. We didn't push them. Nap when you can. Take it slow. We are now on our 3rd trip and things definatley get better as they get older. But don't expect alot. Have FUN! Take lots of pictures!

I do not have triplets. Nor do I know anyone with triplets. but let me say to you (or whomever the mommy is), that I admire you very much!!

Okay, here is my advice on discounts. We live in San Diego, and you'd be surprised how many companies offer ticket discounts for Disneyland. Do you know anyone that works on a military base? Or in any city that works around WDW? Like for example: my dad works for the City of Irvine, which is right by Anaheim where DL is, so he gets major discounts on DL tickets. My friend works on Camp Pendelton, so he gets major discounts through there. Try things like that.

Our last resort for cheap tickets is eBay!! Someone is always selling them and they're always cheaper than at the gates. And you have them beforehand, so you don't have to stand in line to buy them when you're there!

We always eat breakfast in our room, cereal, fruit, we just bring it all. When we make day trips to DL, we pack our lunches and bring all our own water, then have a little Disney splurge for dinner and dessert.

Bring your own glow sticks for the parade, that way the kids won't beg you for the $5 ones they see everyone else have.

Have fun and take it slow...

how's it going undertaker?

(I actually know a guy who is an undertaker, great guy and family!:)

Are still hoping to get to Disney before the triplets 3rd birthday? It is definitely doable and a great age to take them.

By the numbers going it sounded like a Mom and Dad , Grandma, Grandpa kind of deal with 5 kids? Two rooms at a moderate is what I would do hands down. If you are driving for mods, even better so you will have car available if you don't want to do buses but we find buses very doable even with 2 strollers.

I can't tell you how staying on site is so much more doable with little ones, driving to and from each day is a lot of work, loading, unloading. . .I've done it to many times.

don't let those who are not accustomed to lots of kids scare you away, you take care of your kids every day, you know them!

I just thought, it may be 2 couples and the other couples kids are 9 and 3 years? Even better, you can split up when need be but still enjoy "extra helpers" when you want too.

okay, end of sales pitch just be warned, once you go you will want to go back, it is amazing to see Disney through little ones eyes:cutie:

about discounts and cost savers, yup, value season is the time to go. least expensive rates and even additional discounts offered then. sign up for www.mousesavers.com newsletter and read the website, tons of stuff there.
discounts on tickets too.

let us know how the planning goes!

We have planned most of our trip. We consist of Mom, Dad-me, wife's sister & our live-in nanny....my 9 year old daughter, 3 year old daughter and my two year old triplets. We will be staying off site...Sheraton Vistana and are planning our days on paper to help with the chaos. We will be flying from NC to FL...found a one way flight for $19 per person!!!

Thanks for all the advice so far...keep it coming, I'm taking notes.

sounds excellent so far! $19 wow! and to think you asked our advice! :rotfl: I'm happy with my $49 flights tho.

did you download or look at any of the spread sheets some folks on here have put together, I found a few of them helpful!

Have a great trip!
