Me (26) single-mom to
Catherine (2 1/2 yo DD , 3yo in April) WDW 1st timer who cannot wait to kiss Pooh and Mickey on the nose.
Sunday February 8
Traveling with a toddler is fun. She does not understand the term "vacation". She was just waking up and bugging me when Mickey called at 7:00am. (Who needs Mickey to wake you up? Take along Catherine!) I settled her down with her breakfast, Nutrigrain Bar and Milk, some Disney cartoons and headed for the shower. I had my breakfast (I love dry cereal in real life too), and got ready for the day. Our first day at the parks I decide to do AK. It's not an EE day and I hope it won't be really busy.
This is my first real experience with WDW Transpo. Waited less than 5 minutes for the AK bus and were on our way. Arrived at AK around 8:30am. Okay.. it was COLD! like in the 50s! Catherine had on jeans, a long sleeved shirt, a sweater and a coat and was still cold. We are from NC.. this is not new.. but it was windy. .that did not help. We made our way though Discovery Island on our way to Rope Drop. Catherine was too cold to stand and pose anywhere for me. She even got a bit cranky on me a few times. But once at Rope Drop she got on my shoulders and absolutely LOVED seeing the characters opening the park. We headed left towards Africa. Stopped and got pics and autographs from Lilo & Stitch and Flick. She has never seen big characters before and I was highly impressed with her ease with them. She did so good! Walked right up and handed them her book, then hugged them and turned to pose for a pic. I'm so proud of my baby! Well, it was still cold and I was not up to the Safari yet. So we wandered around Africa and Asia getting a feel for the layout. We saw Baloo, another great encounter, then headed to the Safari. Walked right on and got in the front seat! YAY! Although I have read the AM is best for these animals... the cold is not great. We saw the hippos, gators, a cute girraff and the zebras. Saw the elephants but all the lions were hiding. Saw a Rhino or 2. The cold wind got Catherine a bit grumpy but she cheered up when she saw the Gorilla at the end. She has a thing for monkey's. LOL.
Then we went to Flights of Wonder, loved it! We got there about 10 min before it showed and got the front row. Then headed to the trails, then Planet Watch. Catherine saw Rafiki and Stanley. I loved Rafiki, he signed her book "to Princess Catherine, love Rafiki" VERY sweet. We then headed to lunch at Pizzafari. Good pizza. Catherine and I just shared one. Neither was VERY hungry. We then turned up into Camp Minnie Mickey. The Lion King show was getting ready to take in, so we got in line. We ended up in the LION section "roar" and since Catherine wanted to sit in my lap anyway.. we squeezed into the 1st elevated row. Great seats. This show is AMAZING! The color, the music, the whole thing is WONDERFUL! Catherine loved it, I loved it. Its an A+++ for us. We then headed out to the character greetings. We got Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy. And YES.. this Mickey freak daughter of mine got to kiss them ALL on the nose. Really, what her nose obsesion is.. I don't know.. but its darn cute. Konah was not there
. But it was fun. Catherine then declared she wanted a "break" so we sat on the bench there for awhile. She has worked so hard today riding in that stroller. But the rest was nice.
Then.. off to DINO LAND. We first walked around a bit, getting the lay of this area. It was pretty cool. We then hit Trinosoris (sp) Spin. Wait said 20 min, but it was about 10. Catherine loved this ride. She loved controlling the motions and had no problem just dropping us. She laughed! My little dare devil. We then did the boneyard. she loved playing and sliding and climbing. It was close to 3:15, so we headed over to the main drag again to catch the parade. First rude person. I was next in line at the snack stand and some guy just walked in front of me when it was my turn and got himself a beer. umm excuse me. oh well, I am at Disney, you cannot annoy me. We got a soda and a popcorn, and found a great spot for the parade. This parade was very fun, very lively. Brair Rabbit shook Catherine's hand. VERY cute. We headed out and Catherine finally posed for a pic by herself. We then jumped on the bus, again less then 5 min wait.
Back at the resort we took a decent nap. Woke up around 6:00 and grabbed some food at the food court. Shared the Chix fingers and a salad. We then headed back in and watched the WDW Tour channel. Okay.... this becomes a habit and I now hate Krissa. LOL
Tomorrow.. Epcot!
