I would also be worried about all of the germs at WDW and on the plane. I would just be a nervous wreck! Also, some babies cry so much, at all hours of the day and night. I would be worried about disturbing other guests, even in their rooms if the walls are thin.

Ditto. I get sick just about every trip to WDW I take. I can't imagine exposing a 1 month old baby who has virtually no immunity to thousands of tourists. If you are sharing a room with family the baby waking and crying will probably keep everyone from sleeping including your hotel neighbors.

Just had my first she is 6 months old and we are taking her end of September. She will turn 10 months will we are there. YES huge age difference from your one month old BUT I think its all in the preparation. Be prepared to not do full days, to spend time in the child care centers and take it slow. The heat does concern me a bit for a one month old but as I said if your prepared to sit out of things (though there are alot of rides you CAN do) but now that is another question the HEAT to the AC will that be a problem? Have you talked to your doctor about this? We took my DD to Key West for a wedding in early May she was 4 months old and did great I called the doctor first to get all the dos and donts! As I said you have my support I cant say it enough its mental preparation and planning but get your doctor to say GO FOR IT first. Best wishes!!!!

I say go with your instinct. We are going in Sept. with a month old as well as our 3 other children (4.5, 3.5 and 2). I have spoken to my dr. about it and she gave us the okay.

We debated whether to go with a newborn and we have been putting it off with having our children so close in age, but this is the last time that dh will have a lot of time off (he is taking parental leave) so this is the best for us. We know that we will be taking it easy and my dks will be happy to just play at the pool and around the resort.

I think with planning and preparation you will be fine. Just be prepared for the looks & comments from some people who don't believe a newborn should be out in public. I have gone through this with all 3 of my dks, taking them to restaurants and such. All 3 of my dks have been going "out" since their birth and none of them has ever been sick.

We are used to getting "looks" when we go out, with the ages of my dks and me pregnant, people always stare and comment on us.

A young baby is easier than an older baby. Immunity is better in a younger child. Mums know what baby needs and in no way would we let the baby get too warm or cold. Give us mums some credit. Babies are stronger than we think they are. Lighten up folks.....

I just think it's all how you look at the trip. Disney is fun to just LOOK at. You don't have to ride the rides. You don't have to smoosh yourself in with all the crowds. I had a c-section, and although I admit that a month after I was not back to myself, I was also having major cabin fever. I NEEDED to get out of the house on a daily basis. I'd say that as long and you didn't push yourself or the baby, you'd both be okay.

Maybe get trip insurance? Is that possible,

That is one thing that always drives me nuts is seeing the babies with way too many clothes on and socks! I want to take the socks off myself! You can tell they are hot, they will have red faces and be sweating, no need for socks!

Due to medical problems we had to stay at WDW until our daughter was born, she was in the park the same day she left hospital at 3 days old, after a C-section. We did not have any problems with her and would take a newborn in to the parks again. Enjoy yourselves at WDW you will be surprised by how much of it your baby takes in.

I'm with those who wouldn't take a one month old, but mainly because I would not be able to enjoy the trip with such a young baby. If you aren't feeling well, or if the baby is up crying all night (which is highly likely), you will be too exhausted during the day to have fun. Add the intense heat and humidity of August and enormous crowds and that's not my idea of fun.

I find it hard to believe that none of your children has ever been sick. This is pretty much impossible.

Well, honestly I don't care if you believe me or not, but my children are very healthy and eat well. They are never sick. They have never had a flu bug of any type. The only time they ever had a little bit of a fever was right after a vaccination and it was for a short time.

Sorry that it is so hard to believe.

I would not be worried about the germs at all. A one month old actually has a great deal of immunity still built up from the mother from before birth until about 8 weeks old. My ped. told me this because my DD caught chicken pox from me (I had Shingles) when she was 5 mo old and it was Thanksgiving and we were going to be around my cousins DD who was 10 weeks. My ped. didn't advise it since she was over 8 weeks.

Also, at 1 month a baby is not touching and putting everything in their mouth. I took DD when she was 3 mo. old and the only thing she ever touched was myself, DH, DS8 or DD5. Her hands were not all over the line ropes, waterfountains, bathroom doors, rides, characters, etc.

My biggest concern would be if the baby has colic and is up alot at night crying, that can make everyone miserable, DS's colic didn't start until he was almost 3 weeks old. OR, if the mother has to have a c-section. All 3 of my babies were c-sections and I could not have gone all day @ WDW 4 weeks later. I would check with the cancellation policies & trip insurance and play it by ear.

The main concern I would have is the heat. August in FL is BRUTAL - it's both hot and humid, and it is like that from about 8 a.m. until the evening, with brief showers in the afternoon. It gets even more humid after the showers.

I would check with your pediatrician, as your child will have to have sunscreen and I think most sunscreens are for 6 month olds and up.

Personally, I would wait a couple of months.

All the power to you if you feel you will be up to tackling the August heat after giving birth one month prior! IMHO, WDW would not be a place that I would take a 1 month old baby, let alone the parks!!!! (although I know many people do!) I don't consider myself germophobic, but it is GERM CENTRAL, as is the airplane (assuming you are flying). Rides would be the least of my worries!

Let us know what you decide. I hope you have an easy delivery and a happy, healthy little one! I got out of the house pretty soon after every one of my four (although I have to say my first delivery was long and awful!) to go to church, run errands, shop, ect. Just don't think I could have done any vacation so soon after delivery. My babies didn't even think about sleeping through the night until several months of age. Most days I was just looking forward to them taking a nap so I could at least rest a little too. Best wishes....Lacee

Well, having lived in the southern US most of my life, I can tell you there is pretty much NO WAY to avoid getting VERY HOT in Florida most of the year! And when an infant cries, like many newborns do a LOT, they get even hotter. Sorry, it just doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me. Most new moms I know are pretty overwhelmed and exhausted those first few weeks with no sleep, ect. I just don't think pacing around a hotel room with a crying baby sounds like a great vacation. I spent the first few months with each of mine trying to eat with one hand and hold the baby, often nursing, with the other. I would just prefer to be in the comfort of my own home for that. She goes every year, why not wait until the baby is older? Also, personally have NO DESIRE to have a crying newborn next to me on the plane, in the parks, restaurants, hotel room, ect... I just remember feeling very anxious, particualarly after the first one, trying to calm the baby!
