Disney with a 2yr old??

Anyone ever done it? Is it worth it? What are the pro's/con's? Any advice. We are thinking of end of October so it is less crowded(short wait on lines) and not as hot. Thinking of the CBR. They have the largest rooms of the moderates.

Anyone have any suggestions, tips that will make for a better trip? Another resort maybe, etc? Thanks again

I am also going in October and staying at CBR.My kids will be 2,7,9 and 10 yrs old.This will be my first trip with a 2 yr old but she was 18 mths last time I went.Pros-her face as she saw Its a Small World is one.Priceless. Con-the stuff that comes with two year olds(tantrums,scedule,etc).BUT there is no better place I would rather be dealing with it .Did that emake any sense?

Hi! Took ds 23months last fall. Had a blast. He had so much fun, and I appreicate disney in such a different way now after seeing it through his eyes.

My best advice is to plan your day around your 2 yr old. Follow their schedule at home as far as sleeping/naps, give them some down time, and introduce them to the disney magic as much as possible BEFORE your trip so that it is familiar. Books, videos, cds, etc.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. CBR is beautiful, I would make sure to look at a map of the resort and put in a room request for a building that was not a long way from Port Royale. I stayed there as a child 3 times and love it.

I took my kids when my DD turned 2 down there in May, and I went again this past December. I was worried about the December trip because it was my first solo trip with my girls but it turned out wonderfully. Because I was the only adult, I stayed at a monorail resort because my DDs both fall asleep easily in the stroller when tired, and that happened every night. But like another poster said, plan around your DD. If she won't nap in the stroller, then by all means go back to the resort. And remember, all kids love water and they always cheer up with playing in some. I read that a while back on these boeards and noticed on my trip that that seemed to cure almost any tantrum

Our just two year old grandson absolutely loved WDW when we took him in March. He still talks about it every day (without prompting)! I can't believe he remembers it, but it apparently made a huge impression on him.

If you'll be using Disney transportation to get to the parks you might want to consider POFQ or POR instead of CBR, because they are less spread out and the bus can be a little easier to catch - you can easily walk to the main entrance and usually that will save you a bit of time. The rooms in the CBR are a bit bigger, but not so much that it would make a huge difference in comfort.

Biggest Pro? Free entry!!!!!! Ticket prices start at 3 years old. I agree with all the posters here. But realize that my one son started his Disney career at 6 months and my other at 4 months. The only cons are that you can't go at the speed you are used to going and you may not be able to see or go on all the attractions you would like.

People may say that your child may not remember the trip but I can't tell you how much my one son who is now almost 4 loves to look at the pictures of him and the characters/princesses in the photo album. He loves to hear all of the stories about the trips.

We did it in AUg w/ an 18 month old and it was great. It was hot but not crowded and she was excited about everything (except the characters!). We could take her anyplace and she wasnt bored. We took a nap back at the hotel every day and tried to keep close to her normal bedtime (about 8pm) so we didn't see lots of fireworks but we also didn't get lots of tantrums. She still remembers things about the trip (6 months later) and is very excited to go back and ride the "Big Ball" again and hug Mickey. Go and have a great time!

We just returned from a trip with our 3.5 year old. If I had to do everything over again. I would do one park..spend a day of rest..doing whatever..swimming, playing..just hanging out. Then Do another day of park..and repeat this scenario. Less is More IMO.
We were all SO wiped out at the end of the week, we had to watch our home movie to remember what happened and by day 3 our dd was so wiped out that she was getting a bit testy. And we started late in the day..stopped to take naps and still came back to the hotel early everynight. I know this may not be the norm. but just a forwarning. I think it would have made our vacation alot more relaxed.

It is definitely worth going. To see their eyes light up when they see a character or go on a ride is the best! People always tell me that we are crazy for going as much as we do(we go 2x a year, my girls are 4,3,and 7 weeks) and that they won't remember anything. Well you take pictures and enjoy it at that time. YOU will remember how excited they were. Besides it's just another excuse to have to go back..lol.

We took our 2 oldest kids when they were each 2-1/2. We had a great time. As long as you know that you will have to take breaks, you'll be fine. We stopped every afternoon for a few hours for naps, DH & I enjoyed our nap as well. I think it's a great age.

Con: you will have to take breaks for naps
Pro: you will have to take breaks for naps

Con: be preapred for the occassional melt down
Pro: look around, you won't be the only one with a melt down.

Con: might be afraid of characters
Pro: you won't have to waste time standing in line for character autographs.

They offer "baby swap" so you & DH can take turns riding the big stuff. 2 year old will be able to ride alot of things though.

Definitely do a character meal, Crystal Palace is good for that age - has Pooh characters.
