Hello Everyone.

Me and my husband have been to disney many times just the two of us, our trip in November will be the first with our new baby, he will be 7 months at the time.

Wondering if anyone has any tips?

what rides can he do with us?? (if any?) Should we anticipate doing a lot of the shows and no rides this trip??

Thanks

Kim

7 months is a great age for rides and shows. Baby can sit on your lap on most of the dark rides (Alice, Pinnochio, Winnie the Pooh, Pirates, etc.) And a seven month old is generally too young to be scared on these rides.
It's nice too because a young baby will sleep whenever and wherever, so you don't even have to go back to your room for a nap. The stroller or a sling will do.

Tips:
There is a baby station at most parks with an airconditioned area to change diapers, nurse, just relax for a few minutes. They also sell diapers and baby food if the need arises. They may also have baby souvenirs that you won't find in shops. Check your park maps for locations.

If your baby doesn't love the stroller, get a sling/wrap and practice using it before you go. My babies liked to be carried a lot but that gets tiring. Our sling made them and us happy. I feel like I can take them anywhere without a problem. (At the parks, I still need a stroller though to carry our STUFF.)

I have done several trips with ltlle ones. Go at their pace. If they don't sleep well in the stroller be prepared to go back to the room for naps in the afternoon. This is both for them and you. There is nothing worse then a screaming, overly tired and overly stimulated child at Disney. (Take it from my experience!!) Then you will get stressed out too.

Be prepared that when you get on the buses, even if the baby is sleeping, you must take them out of their stroller.

I agree with the previous poster, it is a great age for rides, they don't know to be scared yet! If you both want to ride some of the 'big kid" rides (:rotfl:) take adavatage of the child swap, so you can each ride without both standing in lines to go on.

Have a great trip!

We took DD in jan and she was 6 1/2 mos old. It was so much fun. She loved the characters but kept trying to eat their noses. She also loved the rides and she rode everything they would let her on. Nothing scared her and It's a small world and the Mexico Boat ride in Epcot were mesmerizing to her. We rode them about 7 times each!! She was really good too because she was always entertained. I was nursing and even this was easy. I just found a quiet bench to the side or nursed her at shows or dark rides. It was a wonderful experience and even though she doesn't remember it, I will never forget it!!

My youngest was at WDW for the first time at 7mos also and it was great!!! I was lucky to have an easy baby - the second time around!! She would sleep in the stroller, the sling wherever!!!! I LOVED having our snuggli - as others have said the only problem with the stroller was the buses so we used the snuggli more around nap times or times to leave the park. On some days we did go back to nap - more for her sister who was 3 1/2 at the time. We had baby food delivered from Garden Grocer and mine was on formula so I packed that with us. I did splurge on that - since at home I used the powder but for Disney I got the ready to use 8 oz cans - no waste and no mess. She was also thrilled with every ride and all characters - so go enjoy and do what you would normally do!!!

A baby that young is easier than traveling with a toddler. They are allowed on many of the rides and depending on the baby will just nap in the stroller ( I use to use mine as an excuse for me to have a nap;)).

If there are roller coasters or other rides that you or your husband want to do you can do a baby swap but that means that you ride alone while the other stays with the baby - but you only have to wait in line one time.

Disney used to Have a contract with Kindercare for an In-room babysitting service. My husband and I used this a few times for an adult night out (but not until our kids could talk well :rolleyes1) just something to think about for future trips. It's nice to be able to come back to the room and have the kids in bed and asleep already.:cheer2:

Thank you all so much!!

Im getting really excited about the trip.

I was starting to wonder if we should even go with a 7 month old, But I didnt really want to skip our yearly trip to Disney either!

Thanks for all the tips. I have a sling so hopefully he still likes that, we will also be taking our Stroller.
Im happy to hear he can go on some of the rides on our laps.

and we will defintly take advantage of the baby swap (so we can both go on Dinaosuar  FAV ride )

We are staying at the boardwalk so I think it will help not haveing to use the Bus to every park (with the stroller)

Thanks for this post. We are going in November and our son will be 10 months. I was actually wondering today what rides he could go on and I'm glad people bring their little ones on all the "tame" rides. I think he will enjoy them, he's such an easy going guy.

I will also add that traveling when they are little like yours is so easy. We did HHI when our DD was 6 months and it was a great vacation. We took it easy, but she was big enough to sit in high chairs and was just starting solids so she actually sat through meals. She also loved to try drinking water out of a sippy cup which kept her entertained. I also recommend getting early ADRs if possible. We have found that dining by 5:30 usually makes for a much more pleasant experience for us and the people around us.

We took our son when he was 9 months and he had a great time, no problems with the rides or the characters. But when we took our DD at 11 months, she did not like the dark ride (pooh and small world were great) and was intimidated by the characters. Every child is different and suprising on how they will do. Or DD is a much more easy going baby than DS but was more difficult in Disney (just lifes little ironies)

We have traveled allot with our kids when they are small and it was great. Have realistic expectations on what your day looks like and enjoy.

The child care stations are a lifesaver.

I took my DD at that age and it was great - she was so fascinated by everything!! I was lucky that both of my kids are super easy going...they sleep whenever and wherever they want to so we just toured as normal and they went along and it was great!!
