Hello all!

We are planning a trip to WDW with our 6 month old daughter. We plan on staying on property and utilizing the magic express and the buses to and from the parks.

My question is.. How can I get diapers and other baby necessities at the resort? I obviously can't pack and fly with a case of diapers. Will disney provide us with a bottle warmer?

Any advice, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Sure you can. I bring a pack of diapers with me every time I fly. But there are grocery delivery services also, I know garden grocer is one that's mentioned a lot.

I don't think Disney provides bottle warmers, but they do provide a pack n play if you ask.

I took a case of diapers with me as well. I put them in a Ziploc space saver bag - vacuumed out the air and it fit in my suitcase. You can also ship them to the resort the week before you go (with wipes and other supplies if you want) and they'll be waiting for you. If you go to the Disney Resort board and find the thread for whatever resort you're staying at, the first page usually has the address. I think you add your name and confirmation number, and they'll hold it for you at the hotel. I found it less expensive to fly with diapers, but depending on what else you want to take, it might be a better option.

Diapers (and other supplies) are very expensive within WDW, and it might be difficult to find the size you need. In March, they carried only Huggies. They also had wipes, Gerber baby food, and a small selection of medications. Each park has a baby center with limited baby supplies though, if you find yourself in need.

I never had an issue asking for a cup of hot water at sit-down restaurants to warm a bottle. There is hot water free at most (all?) resort food courts as well.

We went with a seven month old for about a week. I packed and flew with diapers--that space went to souvenirs on the way home. You can have them delivered to your resort though. The resort will hold packages for you--Amazon Prime would be good for this. At least that's what read on these boards.

I don't know about the bottle warmer. I had dd convinced that it was fine to drink cold or room temperature formula. Made things a lot easier.

Thank you so much for the tips! I did not know that I could ship to the resort.

Crl1817, how was WDW with a 7 month old? Am I crazy for thinking that we can handle this? Our DD is generally a very happy baby so I'm thinking she will be OK but a part of me is scared.

I know you didn't ask me :-) - but - I took DS at 9 and 14 months, both were great. He did really well with the characters and the rides. In fact, I thought he might be scared of the dark rides and instead, he usually fell asleep. We took a stroller and a carrier, used both. He doesn't nap much, so we didn't bother with breaks back to the hotel. We made a half hour-hour visit to the baby center each day to cool down and let him play without worry of him being stepped on or crawling off. We used one of those personal fans, lots of sunscreen and shade. I thought it was a crazy idea as well, but it worked out just fine.

We went over Thanksgiving 2010 so pretty high crowds. She had a blast! I was expecting her to not care much and be a little cranky from the schedule changes and all. We went for her big brother, who was seven at the time. I was pleasantly surprised that dd really enjoyed it. She loved the characters--I have a great picture of her trying to bite Minnie's nose. She was (and is) a total extrovert though, which I think helped. A less extroverted baby might need more downtime and might not want so much character interaction. She also liked the rides she was able to go on--people mover, buzz light year, etc.

The best things I did were have a good stroller (Cybex Onyx--really plush umbrella with leg rest and huge canopy), have two good baby wearing options (Ergo and Free Hand Mei Tei), and take breaks in the early afternoon back at our resort.

Thank you Lady and CRL. I'm getting excited!!!!

Did you do character meals?

Which rides can we go on with her?

Can she go in the pool at the resort with the swim diaper? (We have a cruise booked for next year when she will be 14 months and she can't go in pool, that's why I'm asking)

We did character meals. She loved them.

Any ride without a height restriction.

Dd was able to go in with a swim diaper, but things might have changes as that was nearly four years ago.

We did 1900 Park Fare, and are doing Crystal Palace in October. He loved them, and meeting characters.

Yep, any ride without a height restriction, plus any of the shows (some are great for nap time). Off the top of my head: Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Small World, Dumbo/Aladdin, Buzz Lightyear, TTA, Kilimanjaro Safari, Nemo, Spaceship Earth, Little Mermaid, Pooh, Great Movie Ride, Toy Story Mania, Backlot Tour, the Imagination and Land rides, Maelstrom - there are a whole bunch, I'm sure I'm missing some.

We used a swim diaper in March - both cloth and disposable, no issues. He did have to wear a life vest in the pool, though.

We took our little one when he was 4 months old and we flew that year. We scattered diapers throughout every suitcase and that worked fine and I breastfeed so didn't have to worry about all that goes along with not. So I'm not sure if disney provides bottle warmers. There's gardengrocer.com, they have just about everything and they ship right to your resort. We looked into them before I thought of my idea with the diapers so we didn't need to order anything. Anyway, taking a baby was so easy! Good luck!

We are thinking of taking our twins when they're around 10 months- 1 year (10 months will be February so liking the low crowd option!) and loving the tips!

We took DD at 5 months. We packed diapers and she took bottles room temp, so didn't have to worry about heating them.

One thing I noticed was that DD seemed to eat less the week we were there. She ate well back in our room for breakfast and before bed, but at the parks she was usually distracted and off her routine, so was hard for her to focus on eating. Her feedings were slower and less than at home- it was nerve wracking while we were there and I spent a lot of wasted time trying to get her to eat more, but looking back it was really no big deal and I shouldn't have worried about it so much- she knew when she was hungry.

Also- about restaurants- be aware some are easier to bring strollers into and your baby may not be able to sit alone in a high chair yet, otherwise you'll be holding the baby all meal. And remember it you decide to do buffets (most character meals are buffets) it can be hectic- you and your husband won't have as much time at the tables together since you will have to switch off getting food. We did a mix of both sit down and buffet, for character meals we did Tusker House and Crystal Palace- DD loved the bright colors of the Winnie the Pooh characters.

Overall was a very easy trip, mostly DD just tagged along to what DH and I wanted to do- it's gotten harder as she's gotten older and now has an opinion about what she wants!

DS was 4.5 months when we went in February. He was breastfeeding so no bottles needed but I cloth diaper and we packed over 75 cloth diapers, plus accessories. No problem fitting in luggage.

He rode everything without a height restriction. You definitely want a high quality baby carrier for lines. You can also wear baby on many of the rides

I have used both Garden Grocer and We Go Shop while at WDW, and prefer We Go Shop. They will go and seek out the brands you're looking for, and often find even better deals than expected! The delivery was smooth, and the price was awesome. Great service too...we had some issues with our flights and we were able to arrange everything on our last trip over the phone.

I'm taking a 3 month old in October....so I, for one, don't think you're crazy at all for taking baby to WDW!!

I shipped a box via UPS to our WDW resort including diapers for the week, wipes, swim diapers, burp cloths, bibs, infant Tylenol (just in case), a swim float, and all his clothes for the week. I was supplementing with formula at the time and shipped that ahead as well and the bottles. I wanted to deal with as little as possible in the airport for his first trip (ds was 5.5 months).

I brought my Boppy on the plane to nurse and a carrier, the stroller got gate checked.

I had a case of bottled water delivered to the resort. I'd measure the formula into the bottle and carry that around with a bottle of water to mix when needed. Ds drank it room temperature, I've never heated a bottle in my life. If anything he liked it a little chilled.

It was a great trip btw, ds had a good time and napped well in the stroller which made things very easy. The pic below with Pluto is from that trip.
