Hi all!!

We are considering taking our kids to Disney next September. Our son will be 4 and a half and our baby will only be 5 months old. Has anyone done Disney with a baby? Would you do it again ;) ?

We have 4 and then had a surprise baby who was scheduled to arrive just in time for our annual trip to disney during MNSSHP and Food and Wine. Thankfully, we were able to get our DVC points back but we then rescheduled for February when she would be exactly 5 months old. Mind you, we are used to doing Disney with 4 (under 7) so we figured 5 would be a breeze and it honestly was! I know she didn't really know what was going on but she slept most of the trip and had no problem falling asleep in the stroller. It was helpful to have grandma with us so she had someone to watch her while we went on rides, but honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I was a little fearful before the trip because with my first children I barely took them out of the house so early on, but with this little one, she was at her first soccer game at 3 days old (just part of what happens when you're the baby sister of 4 other siblings) and I figured if she were going to get sick her brothers and sisters would be bringing the germs home from school anyway.

The reasons I love it was because we got awesome pictures with her in them at that young age and it was just exciting and fun to watch her look around. She loved the characters and had no fear of them and seemed to enjoy the excitement.

DO IT! Disney is for kids (and those of us who still feel that we are!).

I have done (and still do disney with a baby). My youngest is 21 months. Just make sure you have everything you need. Utilize child swap. Bring a fan for the stroller and extra of everything. I still remember when my middle was 6 months and got profusely sick on main street. The cm's were so great and gave dd a new onsie and dad a new shirt. :laundy:

I would do it again. We have some great memories from doing child swap and the cm's doting and playing with the baby - and generally being magical. Also, babies love MK. I would say current dd who is a toddler has been the least happy at HS. MK, AK and Epcot (We did Epcot for her first birthday - she had a ball) are hits with my youngest.

My son turned 6 months old during his first trip, it was the easiest of all! I shipped all the baby supplies to the resort before we arrived and made use of the baby centers.

Best tips are shipping diapers, wipes anything bulky to your resort. Put your last name and res# on shipping label. Know where all the baby centers are. If you forget something they have items you can buy with a Disney up-charge. There are private rooms where you can feed or pump. Don't let your baby get too hot outside.

We will be in same situation come February. Which resort in the deluxe, moderate and value would people recommend for this age range (am bringing grandma too).

I would say the resort depends on what park you want to spend the most time in. I have never been to CBR but I hear it's huge and there is a lot of walking. This trip we're doing the contemporary and I have to say I'm pretty excited about it because, there is one drawback I forgot about the baby and that is having to close up the stroller when taking buses. That said, we LOVED whenever ferry service or the monorail was available becuase while it's nice to stuff your stroller with stuff while walking around the park, you invariably forget that you have to stash it all somewhere and close that stroller up before you load onto the busses.

We have brought my granddaughter every summer, first at 4 months old, then 16 months old and lastly 28 months old. The four month old year may have been the easiest as she did sleep easily in the stroller and we did have a fan to keep her cooler. PP is right, we have great pictures and she always had things to look around at. As far as the resort choice, depends what is in your budget. We find closing the stroller the worst part of dragging infants/toddlers. If you can choose a resort that monorails/walks/boats (some you don't have to break down the stroller to get on) to the park/parks you think you will visit, that would surely help. And to be honest, as long as you have a second person/set of hands to help fold the stroller and carry it onto the bus, you will be fine. 5 months is actually a great age to vacation in Disney. Not very mobile and happy to have so much to look at. Enjoy!

We took DD along for a 4 or 5 day trip the first week of December a couple of years ago. She was 5 months at the time. We were lucky in that she was sleeping through the night by then. I strongly believe you can have a successful trip with kids of any age. It's all about planning and expectations. Obviously with two it's more "man to man combat" and DW and I tended to split up a bit to make the most of our time. The cooler weather in December definitely helped make things easier. Also staying in a monorail resort, if possible, is a big help, but not a deal breaker.

We have great memories and photos from that trip.

4 and 5 months were the exact ages of my kids when we took the baby for the first time. 5 months is a great age to go - alert, active but not totally on the move yet!!! At 5 months my DS was only breastfed so no food to deal with and very easy to nurse in WDW. At 5 months we carried him alot in our front pack carrier. This was perfect as he could see everything at "adult eye level" and was very intent on taking everything in and he could also interact with loads of people - people always seem happy to see a baby, so interact they did. :) We also had a stroller with which 4yo DD rode in at times but walked mostly and was handy when baby DS fell asleep - he just nodded off in the stroller very easily.

Honestly he was way easier at 5 months in WDW than when he went as a toddler!!!! ;)
