Disney Wishes Fireworks Security???

Last weekend (Dec 13th) the family and I went to the Mickey Christmas Party. During the fireworks show I noticed several men with wired earbuds, flash lights (off), using walkie talkies & wearing black "Wishes Firework" shirts and black cargo pants. We go to Disney every few weeks but I have never seen this before. Is this something new or have I just never noticed?

Where were you? I've seen them in Fantasyland before. Never in front, although it might have been based on wind direction.

I think they are more "safety, communication" for the fireworks than security for the park.

I've seen them watching for stray embers from the fireworks to make sure there are no fires like the one on the top of Seven Dwarfs.

These fireworks also shot from temporary locations even right on the streets whereas normal Wishes are not. The road right behind Space Mountain was closed down and a truck sat there with fireworks on top. We watched them Friday from Contemporary and it was wild at the end to see where the puffs of smoke were rising from. Am sure they are on the lookout for fallout and other issues that may come from non-usual fireworks.

You got, it folks. There also show techs making sure all the launches follow the soundtrack. And of course if a particular shell doesn't launch they can note it for when they disarm and check the launch tubes. Just like if a gun doesn't fire a shot and jam. You never know when it could go off.
