Disney Wish inaugural sailing.

We were on the Maiden Voyage of both the Magic and the Dream. The Magic was done via a lottery and the Dream was not. Both had their issues (more so on the Magic) but I would definitely book a Maiden Cruise again. It was fun. People do tend to rush the stores to buy up all the limited edition merchandise but I don't really care about getting that merchandise so it did not bother me. We actually booked the Maiden Voyage of the Dream and the cruise right after it as I wanted more time than just 4 days onboard. Disney considers all the sailings of a ship the first year as an inaugural sailing so if you sail a few months after its debut they should still have inaugural merchandise.

I do plan on booking the MV of the Wish if I can. And I do hope they revamp the Castaway Club levels. I've completed 43 DCL cruises and my husband has completed 34 DCL. They definitely need another level. In all my cruises after 10 I have never received the Platinum magnet from DCL. Go figure.

I was on the maiden voyage--for the public--for the Dream.
While I wasn't on the Maiden voyage, I was on the third sailing. It was actually my first cruise and I wouldn't have known any better if the other seasoned cruisers weren't complaining so much. The staff was all new, but as someone who never cruised before, I didn't realize that they weren't as good as they are on other cruises. There were lots of people who regularly sail DCL and they were telling me how bad everything was from service to the broken salt shaker.

While on Castaway Cay, a man who said he cruised DCL every year since it first came out told me that several of the port windows shattered on the Dream because of the change in moisture and temperature and that the crew was rushing to fix it. When I went back to the ship, I saw what he was talking about. Not something had any influence on my vacation, but I'm not sure I'd want to sail on a ship during the first few weeks after being more of a seasoned cruiser now.

When Port Canaveral announced their plans to refurbish terminal 8 (DCL terminal) and terminal 10, they stated they expected the new triton class to be sailing 4 and 5 night cruises. This is why Disney will end up using terminal 10 from time to time as they will have multiple ships in port frequently.

Just my guess here, but I think two of the new Triton class ships will end up porting in Port Canaveral, the third to be based out of Asia. Dream or Fantasy will either take over the current Magic schedule including European cruises or port out of Galveston with their recent 10 year extension there. If Dream/Fantasy take over. Magic’s schedule then Magic moves to Galveston. Wonder will move to the west coast permanently doing Mexican Riviera cruises, more Hawaii and of course Alaska in the Summer.

So nobody thinks they open completely new routes?? Like South Pacific?? Would be awesome to see them in Tahiti

I suspect the Fantasy will continue to do 7 days (or some other longer itineraries) because they just added a second full production show and it seems unlikely they do that for the 3/4 rotation.

It is unlikely that DCL will do something like that in the near term. Perhaps once all 3 new ships are sailing, they may test the waters with one of the classic ships. They have been very cautious with trying new things and have scampered fast if things don't seem to be going their way, such as the original sailings from Galveston.

For future placements, we know from the press coverage of port agreements that DCL is committing to expand their PC facility, base at least two Wish class ships there, and increase departures significantly which means a third ship there at least seasonally. In Miami, they have committed to a year round presence in Miami as of 2023 of a ship with "at least 3500 passengers" and a second seasonal ship and they'll be constructing a Disney specific port facility like the one in PC. They've also pledged to increase sailings from Galveston from 12 to 26, but would not commit to a year round presence.

My guess. Wish replaces Dream. That's easy peasy to figure out. Dream, I think, moves to Miami year round. Wish Class Ship 2 replaces Fantasy. Where Fantasy goes is anyone's guess. I remember something about increased Bahamian visits being part of the deal for Lighthouse Point, so I'd wager on at least some of these itineraries being PC/Miami to Bahamas+something else. I'd guess Magic/Wonder stay, more or less, in their current configurations, but maybe with more "surprises" like the Hawaii cruises. Maybe they abandon the Mexican Riviera (almost everyone else has--which having grown up watching The Love Boat go to Puerto Villarta makes me sad) for more out of Galveston. And they experiment to see what sells in the period between Wish-class 2 and Wish-class 3. I can't remember, are the Dream/Fantasy too large for Alaska or some of Europe?

When the third Wish-class ship comes online, then it gets really interesting. Asia is definitely in play, but that is a very different market. We had that big thread about casinos and my understanding is these are Really Big in Asia. Maybe they test the waters with a Magic class ship?
