Hi :)

I just received the email from my consultant about my wedding web site.

First, Can people please share what if anything they put in their welcome greeting.... I have no idea what is supposed to go there.

Also, what does everyone do about gifts?? I really don't want everyone bringing gifts to my wedding at WDW, I would rather they save them for our at home reception so we don't have to ship them home. What do you do about this?? Has anyone put a comment below where you are registered and made a comment like please save all gifts for our at home reception or please mail to??

Any suggestions would be great!!

Thanks :)

We ended up just using the generic Disney greeting for the official website and then created our own wedding website (using apple software, iWeb, I believe). The Disney one is not very customizable and Disney has to make the changes. There have been a few threads about the merits (or lack thereof) of creating your own website.

As for the gifts, we are requesting no gifts but have registered with a few charitable organizations so people can donate in our honor. Generally, the maid of honor is in charge of spreading the word of registries, etc. On our "homemade" website, we created a tab stating we did not want gifts but did provide a link to our selected charitable organizations. I believe in our super connected times that this is acceptable (versus 20 years ago).

This may be a regional thing, but, where I live, no one shows up to the wedding or reception with gifts: everything is mailed to the bride. In my experience, most gift registries have the recipient's address on file so hopefully this would prevent people showing up to WDW with gifts. I would assume most people don't want to schlep gifts to Florida.

Hope that is somewhat helpful!

I used word of mouth to get the news out about not bringing gifts to the wedding. We also had the excuse that since it was an in-park event (LSS) nothing could be wrapped anyway for security :thumbsup2

We only ended up being given 3 gifts while at Disney- 2 from relatives that lived in Florida and one was a Mickey and Minnie wedding ornament that someone bought there.

Most of our guests were traveling too and they didn't want to hassle carrying anything either. We mainly received cards with cash/check.

We put the story of how we met in the personal comment section of our Disney web site.

As for gifts, most people are smart enough not to bring gifts to a destination wedding - for one thing, they don't want to have to pack them up any more than you do!

You don't need to tell them not to do it. The few people who gave us gifts on our actual wedding day gave us small, packable things like gift cards and a picture frame. Worst-case scenario, you have your Disney resort box them up and ship them home for you (or you drive to a nearby FedEx or UPS store).

But I wouldn't worry about this....
