we're hoping to get married in may 2008 in the wedding pavilion. The problem is I live in the uk and im really stressed about planning everything from so far away. Im hoping to go with virgin, but I dont know how much planning I would still need to do. I have only been to disney once, and loved it (hence the wedding) Im worried that I will struggle planning this as I don't know disney as well as some of the other people whos storys I have read. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I really need to know:

what type of outfit the groom should wear (with the weather being so hot)
how to arrainge transport for guests to the pavilion on the day
what the reception is like, when you book through virgin. (in the grand floridian)
how much extra (aprox) it will cost for 18 guests instead of four (the amount that is included in the virgin wedding package)
what the flowers are like through virgin
and is there any other company that you can book a disney wedding with from the uk.

thanx ;)

Hiya

Im in the uk too

we are marrying jan 2008, at the wedding pavillion

you can book direct through Disney weddings, and they can arrange everything including transport (we are having a coach)

its such great fun planning have fun

thanks so much I didnt know that you could still book through disney direct if you are in the uk. Is the pricing still in dollers though. and is it very complicated. sorry for asking so many questions but Im super confused!

yes it is in dollars but its easy to convert,

theres a whole website if you type disney weddings into google.

be aware when flying with virgin, you still only get two pieces of luggage each, even if you have wedding clothes, which is why we are going tcd, they just have a weight limit, so my dresses can go in boxes.

how do I get a picture next to my name, like your one. I cant figure out how to do it! lol:scratchin

i cant remember the picture thnigy lol

tcd is travel city direct

did you book your hotel with disney or did you do that seperately. Is travel city direct a travel agents or is that just your flights. sorry if im harrassing you lol. I really need the help! ;)

if you go on www.travelcitydirect.com its does everything

we have just booked fly drives though and booked hotels through disney

through disney you get a wedding co ordinator, we are having a custom disney wedding, as we have 28 guests, costs around $10k, fully worth it though

what type of outfit the groom should wear (with the weather being so hot)
most people still go with the traditional tux, but i have seen some people with cotton trousers and a casual shirt, its really up to what look you want on your wedding day. my hubby wore the full kilt and everything!

how to arrange transport for guests to the pavilion on the day
you get 4 hours limo hire with the intimate package, it can go off site and pick up guests from limos or other hotels. you can extend the limo hire, i think its something like $80 an hour (about £50). or you can call for a town car (like a big taxi), they're cheaper

what the reception is like, when you book through virgin. (in the grand floridian)
the intimate "reception" lasts about an hour, it gives you time to cut the cake, make speeches, dance etc. if theres no other receptions after you, you can stay on the terrace. most people do their cake cutting then go for dinner afterwards. we went to chef mickeys at the comtemporary cos we wanted the characters but couldnt justify the cost!

how much extra (aprox) it will cost for 18 guests instead of four (the amount that is included in the virgin wedding package)
the intimate package includes 18 guests, not sure why virgin are still trying to tell everyone its only 4. when i was booking mine, they tried to charge me £350 for extra guests, i found out disney dont charge for the extra, so i demanded my money back. the package includes enough cake for about 25 people anyway (its huge!!) and bubbly for about 6 people. you can buy more bubbly or soft drinks anyway. that'll be the only extra cost for having more people

what the flowers are like through virgin
the flowers are done by the disney florist, you can find pictures on the www.disneyweddings.com website. i went with a mixed french bouquet in white and pink. it was gorgeous

and is there any other company that you can book a disney wedding with from the uk.
the way the travel agents work is that they book the disney package and you use them as a middle man. the virgin package is the same as the disney package but just with an extra person to have to deal with
there are other travel agents you can book with, such as first choice and thomas cook. but i strongly urge you to book direct with disney. we went with virgin, and although their holidays department is good, their weddings department are bad. they're ok if you want the basic package and dont want to change anything, but if you have any questions at all, they dont seem to know much at all. i learnt more from this board than i got from them. at one point they messed up and even cancelled my wedding totally. in my experience, they caused me no end of stress. in the end i gave up trying to deal with them and went direct through disney, used their photography and dealt only with them instead.

the link to my photos is in my signature, feel free to PM me if you need any help, i'll be happy to answer any questions

Thanks. everyone has been a lot of help. please keep posting replys as I would like as many peoples opinions as possible. I will have a look at disneys weddings site, and I think I will probably deal with them. keep it coming guys! thanx again xx

Hi Pat, we are from the UK too, and are planning an intimate at sea breeze point ( Boardwalk ) in May 2008. We are not going through Virgin, but will book it direct with Disney as we will "pay" for our accomdation with DVC points and we will fly BA probably. We are bringing out DH2B'S Dad, Sister and her family as well as our 4 year old DD ( yep, we've been together a good while, but decided it's time to make it legal! ) I'm so excited already, Ive just ordered the 2 bridemaid dresses for DD and our Niece who is only 4 months old at the moment but will be 18 months at the wedding!!!
we have phoned Disney already but have been told we cannot do anything until 12 months out - when we will be cruising the Med, so we'll have to phone from the ship LOL!
You never know we may be getting hitched around the same time! good luck with your planning.
Carol

Wow what a coincidence! It does look like Im gonna book through disney though, they sound better than virgin! Im glad you told me that we couldnt do anything until 12 months before, I didnt know that, and it gives me more time to sort out exactly what I want.

Im still stuck an what the groom should wear though, It would be nice to hear from someone who has been married there already, I dont want the groom to faint from heat exhaustion!!! lol

Yes, know what you mean about the heat - our first Disney holiday was in may and it was HOT! and humid too, walking out of the hotel room to outside at 7-8 o'clock in the morning reminded me of walking into a butterfly farm! LOL

DH2B has decided to go really informal, in a tropical silk shirt ( not flowery!!!) and light coloured chinos. We we in Fort Lauderdale last year and there was a wedding party at our hotel. All the groomsmen and groom were in matching shirts, I think they were greens and peach, and light trousers. It made an impression on us, because we are so used to seeing formal weddings over here. As this is 2nd time around for both of us, we really wanted our wedding to be different, so we have decided on a tropical theme too. I am basing the colour scheme around the tropical bouquet Disney have as an option in their intimate package, orange roses, burgandy calla lilies and green orchids. I'm really hoping they don't change this when they bring out their 2008 prices/packages, though I'm sure I could probably request something similar anyway.

That sounds really nice. I love the summery tropical colours! Ive picked my bridesmaid outfits (for the older girls anyway) and its a pail green mid shin length skirt in a very floaty fabric, with little diamante stones dotted on it. with a strappy cream floaty top with a green ribbon around the waist. With sandles with a heel (obv) I wanted it to be kinda casual and summery. I went there in may too and it was 90 degrees f !!! I want everyone to be comfortable. My ideal day would be to get married and then do the cake cutting and have a meal (lunch/dinner) and then hit the parks for a bit and watch wishes! I love the fun of the parks, and Im looking forward to being able to go with my family! We have 10 children coming between the ages of 1-18!!! DF thinks like that aswel Im looking forward to a more casual day because were going for the quite formal reception when we come home! Do you think that sounds crazy? Alot of people want the wedding to last forever but I dont really like the attention and I just want everyone to join us having a fantastic holiday! There is only us two out of the entire wedding party who have been to disney before so I can't wait!:cloud9:

No Pat you do not sound crazy, an informal wedding in a fantastic venue sounds perfect to me. I don't think we are even having a traditional reception when we return home. One of the reasons for us doing this was to combine the expense of the wedding with our one big expense each year...our holiday!!, being able to "pay" for the accomodation for the rest of the family ( with DVC points) is fantastic. None of them have stayed on Disney property before ( DFIH has never been to the USA )and I know it's a bit strange sharing our Honeymoon with everyone, but I can't wait. Plus DD will enjoy having her cousins to enjoy the parks with.I intend to make this a really special time for everyone, without the cost of a reception at home we can afford to include plenty of "treats" for everyone such as spa visits etc.

That sounds perfect to me! I think I'll have more fun sharing my honeymoon with my family! DF and myself went last time and all we kept saying was I wish everyone else was here! we know they will love it! Is DVC, Disney Vacation club? I sound stupid but Im new to these boards! lol If it is, I did'nt know that was open to UK customers. any details plz? :hippie:

Yes, DVC is Disney vacation club and it's definately open to UK customers!
we signed up in 2000 and it's one of the best desisions we ever made. I think we have already had our money's worth out of it! There is a really good DVC forum on these boards for all your questions and answers. All I would say is, if you love Disney then make sure you do their tour next time youre there, especially while the exchange rate is good! LOL

We're in the UK too and was panicked about getting started too late to be able to plan a Disney Wedding, so I called today - they are LOVELY! Such a sweet lady talked to me and congratulated me, so all I have to do is bide my time until that 12 month date comes up and I can call again! :cloud9:
