Ok, I know that the water isn't getting the best reviews on here so I have a question. Is it sulphur smelling or chlorinated or other? I'm just trying to figure out if I should buy water bottles for DH and I. Funny thing is he absolutely can't drink chlorinated water but doesn't mind the sulphur smelling stuff. Thanks for any help pirate:

I would definitley buy bottled water. I drink refreigerator filtered water at home all the time (whereas the DW drinks only bottled). But I did not even attempt to drink the water @ Disney. I did have the hot water from the tap in my oatmeal a couple of times. The oatmeal must have masked the odor / flavor.

As for chlorine vs sulphur, I couldn't tell you which one it is, but it is definitley chemicals.....

The water is not the typical water from Florida. It doesnt have the smell or the taste of sulpher. It is treated.

I don't have a problem with it and neither do our sons, but hubby wont drink it. So I purchased one of those filter sports bottles from Brita to carry with us. Lugging around water from outside is too cumbersome and water inside is VERY pricey to me.

I second the Brita water bottles, with the filter in them.. it works great, and you don't have to lug the full bottles around. Most of the refrigerated-type water fountains DO have a filter in them, so if you put that water into a Brita bottle, you'll filter it even more.

We didn't have a problem with the water when we went. It did smell funny but we thought the taste was okay. We did buy some of the over priced bottled stuff because it was cold.

I think the water has a sulfur taste and I even can taste it in the fountain sodas. We carry the brita bottles. If we want something other than water we add crystal light or gaterade powder in a separate container. It is much less expensive and keeps my family of 5 hydrated.

It doesn't smell like chlorine, but it also isn't nearly as sulpher-smelling as well water. It does have a slight odd odor. I didn't drink any tap water, but I didn't think the ice tasted funny. We all felt fine during our trip, but other than DS having a sip or two from the water fountains we didn't consume much water.

I found it difficult to get the shampoo rinsed out of my hair, and it didn't lather very well so the composition of the water is different than what I am used to. Not to mention the water pressure in the shower wasn't great...

The water has a strange smell and taste that reminds me of mildew. I cannot drink the water nor have any ice while at WDW. I usually go to Publix and buy two or three cases of water (that is up to 72bottles) as the price is a lot less than buying in the parks. Usually buy a case for the price of two bottles at the park.
I drink a lot of water, typically one 20oz bottle every two hours, more on a hot day.

I have to buy bottled water when traveling to WDW. The first 2 trips down, we drank the water & we all got sick from it.(We have health issues & delicate systems because of it - but even Healthy & Hearty DH had some problems one year) We use bottled for drinking, mixing, making cofee & teeth-brushing.
My doctor explained that it was just the different composition of Flora & Fauna in their water that our systems aren't used to.
So, if you have health issues or are prone to a delicate stomach & aren't used to FL water, be forewarned.

I haven't been brave enough to see if the Brita filters it down enough for our systems to handle. I do know the ice is filtered somehow, you don't get the same taste or effects from the ice.

When we went down for 2 weeks we took 2 cases of Poland Springs. Halfway through the second week we ran out and went to WalMart, that is when we realized that Poland Springs was a local brand, so we ended up buying Zepherhills and hated it! It was much different tasting. If you do bring some water bottles from a brand you are used to then try to get a national brand if you run out, like Aquafina or Dasani or something to that effect. We didn't even touch the bottles we bought and ended up buying dasani from the park for the last 5 days!

My dh grew up on well water, and I have had it when visiting his parents. Disney water isn't as strongly sulphur as that, but neither of us could drink it. It smelled/tasted more like swamp than sulphur. It's hard to describe.

Thanks for all the info on the water. We went down 10/03 but neither of us drank the water so I don't remember if it had a weird taste/smell. I'll just buy a Brita bottle for DH so he doesn't spend his vacation in the magical mystery bathroom.
