Our second trip to WDW with me (42) DH (46) DS (13 DS(10).
Left 8/24 - 2 nigts at Universal (RPR) and 5 nights at Dolphin Hotel (Teacher Discount).
Flew out of Westchester County NY Airport via Air Trans. No delay..quick check in..no problems. Perfect way to start our trip. Landed at Orlando Airport to a driver waiting at baggage with our name. We used Tiffany and they were terrific! We used them not only back and forth from airport, but airport to Universal for 2 days, picked up at Universal and dropped at Dolphin and Dolphin to airport again. 1 grocery stop and always on time. Only issue with Tiffany is one of the rides was in a car that was nice, but a little beat up. But it got us there so, no complaints. (Used $5 coupon online)
I will post my trip info for Universal (Royal Pacific Resort) under Universal trip reports..but it was beautiful.
When I arrived at Dolphin on 8/26 I checked in and showed my Starwood gold card and asked in a nice way if there was any way I could be upgraded from a standard view room to an Epcot view. She said she had a room (9025) with a great view but no balcony...there was another room with a partial view and a balacony..I chose the great view. It was soooo worth it. Unbelievable view of fireworks every night! (Got Teachers Rate $149/night)
Room was decent size, clean, maid service was great! Hotel was beautiful. Only complaint was that the dock for the Dolphin / Swan boat to MGM and Epcot was under refurbishment the whole time we were t here. Bummer. Had to walk to Boardwalk. Pool was clean, never crowded.
Restaurants: We ate at Garden Grove (Old Gullivers Grill) at the Swan twice, it was my sons favorite from last trip. It went down hill. Food was less than good and service not great. Very disappointing. Each night a different buffet, but both times we didn't like it. It is a character dinner though and not crowded. But Milano's in the Swan (Italian Food) was very very good. Walked right in both times we ate there..great wine, food and service. My favorite this trip. ESPN, same old quick food, TV's all over, just okay in my opinion, my son likes the TV's/Sports.
We saw lots of FASTPASS' given out..missed them by minutes. Mostly given out mid morning..around 10 at the high traffic rides (Space Mtn, Aerosmith,Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror)
Overall a great trip, we did everything we wanted to and still had time to enjoy the pool. A break mid-day was key as it was very very hot. Any questions, I would be happy to answer.
