Disney vs. RCCL

well never saw a ship with those things on it, and not that I want to go on, but my friends do I know.

While the Oasis does look sort of cool - it's far to big and fancy for me. I like the relaxed atmosphere on DCL. You can't really tell that there are 2500+ cruisers on the ship unless you are trying to get through the atrium after early dinner seating and they are doing something in the atrium.

Whatever happened to just plain relaxing with a book and watching the world float by. I don't really agree with DCL current pricing, but give me a small ship any day.

2500 passengers isn't exactly a small ship. I cruised on HAL Veendam to Alaska in July with 1300 passengers. That's considered a mid-sized ship, and I liked it very much.

smeeCanada - that's why I love that there are so many different varieties of ships. So it's kind of like whatever floats your boat. :thumbsup2

New Oasis deck plans just released...I zoomed in on the kids areas...

You have a point. But if I wanted to see Mickey I could go to WDW. ;)

So you can make that argument for any ammenity on a ship. :lmao:

You are not alone in your feelings. Even some very loyal RCCL cruisers have no desire to sail on Oasis. I think it's all about what you get from cruising. If I didn't have kids, then I wouldn't need all of the bells/whistles. I would be perfectly happy on a smaller ship with no H20 zone. :)

yeah if you want to see mickey you can go to WDW, it's good to know I'm not alone in my feeling to sail on Oasis, like I told my friends, if it was a smaller ship I would go with them, I have been trying to talk them into going on the RCCL ships I just wanted more people to cruise with me and my dad when we go on RCCL, DCL I like when we spend time together so no need for more people with us because we just love disney more then others. But whenever we go on RCCL, we will one day, I want others to come and see why I love cruising, just not on that big on a ship. I'd go on Freedom or one of those, but my friends think they will be board:lmao:

yeah, I'll go on a ship around the size of the Magic which would be prefect size of a ship for me to the Freedom of the Seas size ship just to test it out and see if I like a big ship, but I have 3 DCL cruises booked and people trying to talk me into Oasis, I'll try Freedom before Oasis to see if I like a big ship or not

I have to admit that I was a bit concerned about the size of the Oasis as well. BUT I hated the crowded pool areas on the Magic. I felt like Disney did not take into consideration where most families with kids would spend their time during the days. I sure hope they re-work the pool areas on the new ships!

One of the posters provided photos of the H2O ZONE and it looks MUCH more comfortable than the crazy pool areas on the Magic. I am now thinking it will be nice to have lots of areas to explore. And there seem to be LOTS of lounge chairs where I can watch the world float by. Here is just one small example of what I mean about the crowds at the pools (Mickey and Goofy pools, NOT the adult pool which of course I rarely had a chance to visit). We call this photo "KID SOUP". :rotfl:

OMG That is Gross, could the chlorine even be working with all those bodies in there?

OMG HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

This was the Freedom's H20 Zone hot tub on a sea day during Spring Break. Yep, there is a little bit of a difference. :rotfl:

TOO FUNNY!:lmao: Yea, I think I am going to like the Oasis! I may actually get to sit and watch my DD rather than having to stand and try to follow her due to no chairs and so many kids. Ahh, sounds great!

Hey, Laugh as you may...But I am looking forward to the H2O zone. I have a timeshare at Vistana resort and one of the pools there has water spouts similar to the H2O zone and I sit in the middle of it and the kids step on the water spout and when they let go they get me wet and they love it and laugh and so do I. LOL

OK My only concern about booking the Oasis is...After having so much to do on a ship, can we ever go back to a Freedom or Voyager class ship.

We are a family DH, myself and DD 13 that likes things to do and to keep busy.

I said to DH should I book a Freedom ship as it is cheaper...He said NO WAY book Oasis.

Well, after Freedom I did a Carnival ship and Disney Wonder....yes it is a big change...but it was still a cruise...and I was happy. :)

I'll admit that one BIG concern I had about The Libertyof the Seas, was her size, and the ability to "get around". I remember the first time I was on The Magic, we were always trying to figure out which way to go.........So I figured it would take me 3 days to find my cabin on LOTS..............RCCL must know there are idiots, like me, and they have these 3-D models all over so that you caan see where you are and where you need to go. They also have interactive touch screens that help you figure out how to get around. By the 2nd day.....I had that ship all figured out, and never needed them again......;)

:lmao:, good to know RCCL knows there are idiots who wouldn't be able to find there way around. I'd be one of them:lmao:

now if I can talk my friends into not going on Oasis and going on Freedom then I'll be all set

I LOVE those acrylic ships that tell all...RCI does know how to keep people from getting lost.

OK Stupid question!

Which would you book? Carnival Dream (brand new ship coming out in 2009) RCI Freedom of the Seas or Oasis of the Seas...

DH and DD want Oasis and so do I, but I am thinking of price, Tomorrow is the day to book, DH said we have a year and a half to pay for it, just book the damn cruise on Oasis.
