Disney Visa

We have one and have had it for years!!! There are definitely better reward credit cards out there but we use this one exclusively (we should really get another one for the times our card has been compromised).

We apply the rewards towards our DVC fees. One time we used it for our onboard DCL account but mostly for DVC dues. (We average $450 - $600 per year and pay off balance each month - if not - defeats the purpose).

I signed up for a Disney Visa back when they were offering a $200 reward just to get one! That helped pay for a visit. I have the regular card with no annual fee.

Honestly though I find the reward part isn't that great. I only use it when I am at Disney & for paying my monthly Disney AP charge. You do get a few perks & discounts with it so I keep it for that.

Shop around other credit cards & see what they have to offer rewards wise. I use Discover & really rack up the cash back bonus since I charge about everything. I do pay it off in full every month so Discover isn't making much $$ on me.

We have 3, have been using them for 12 years. I use them for my business, they offer double and triple once in a while during certain months. First trip was paid for my these, but like others said, there are other cards out there that give more than the 1% cash back, but getting one gets you special meet and greets, we use it every trip in epcot, it also says you get one for Star wars, since we have not been to that one, not sure who you see. And generally no line.

I just checked the rewards, you get 10% off at some restaurants, 2 of ours this July are on this list. Also if you purchase $50 of merchandise, 10% off, and right now, on the website you get $50 credit for your first purchase on free card, and $100 on card with $49 annual fee.

I've been lightly considering this also, how is the discounts for food and merch while on your vacation with the card?

My dad uses his for everything. I wanna say we had around $500 for our last trip.

We usually use our SW card and use points for our flights. But - this year was very stressful with securing a SW flight - probably due in large part to the holiday falling on a weekend. The biggest downfall is that you're limited to just one airline.

For our next trip (fingers crossed) we plan on exclusively using our Disney card throughout the year and then hopefully having $500-1,000 for our trip.

I know I get a discount in Germany for my caramel corn, but I can't recall now if it's the Visa or AP I use? I think mostly you either get the AP or Visa discount if offered & they are generally the same amount off/same restrictions to use.

I have it and to be honest, I'm not very sure it's worth it. I accumulate rewards so slowly - 1 for every $100 - that in the end I don't spend enough to generate anything really large. I did get a big sign up bonus which covered our room deposit for a trip, so that wasn't too bad, but currently I have about $28 in rewards dollars and it's taken seemingly forever to earn. I have an American Airlines Mastercard through Barclay's and while it has an $89 yearly fee, I rack up airline miles SO fast that to me, it's the better card to use regularly. Both seem to have high interest rates but I try to never or rarely carry a balance. The character meet perk is fun though. I would suggest weighing your options if you're more interested in quickly accumulating rewards, but overall the Disney card isn't bad, just not my first choice. To me, the airline miles are the better reward because I can get my flights to Disney for as cheap as $17 and you earn a mile per dollar (sometimes more) so they add up faster. For ever $1 Disney reward dollar I would earn, I earn 100 airline miles so they tend to add up much more quickly. If you fly to Disney it may be worth it to look into and save some money on flights.

I believe the Disney Visa credit card discount is 10% but only if you spend $50 or more. That's what it was when I was there last year at least. You also have 6 months interest free to pay off a vacation package (don't know if it applies to things purchased separately like room only, park ticket, etc).

Ive also been thinking about getting the card. We have an AMEX we use for most cash back things so I think I'd use the Disney Visa mostly for the discounts and booking our trips to get the 0%/6 months. I just wanted to confirm though - the money I put on the card for the trip earns the reward dollars right? Also, they get treated as the same 1%? No extra for it being a Disney purchase?

We have it, great card for Disney perks as long as you pay it off every month in full! Stay away from debt, it's evil!

Have been accumulating points since our last trip in 2012. Heading out in November of this year and by that point we'll have accumulated near 3,300 reward points. Puts a nice dent in the trip.

I have one that I use for Disney trips and purchases. I pay it off every month in full. (NO perks are worth it if you are accruing CC debt, seriously!) It's nothing special, but it's nice to get a few in-park perks and discounts — I love the exclusive M&G photo opp and the 10% off at the Disney store, personally. And it's cute. :)

But when I'm not planning a trip to Disney or making a Disney purchase, I don't really use it. I have a good airline miles CC and I get more bang from that one by far.

We've had one for years. We haven't used it for points in years (we have a couple others we use for that). We keep it for souvenir discounts and for the Epcot Character spot for cardholders (I guess there is a Star Wars one in HS now for cardholders)

We have also had one since the promotion where we got $200 in credit for signing up. As others have mentioned, we use it for pretty much everything that we can and then pay off the balance each month. We try to get to WDW at least every other year and I can't remember when we didn't have $400 or more to use on meals and souvenirs for the kiddos. We also really like having the characters on the card and have gotten quite a few comments from different people about how they like them too!

Nothing but good things to say about it (other than realizing that we could get higher rewards from other cards..).

Disney Visa gives you $1 for every $100 you spend. (1% cash back) Overall, the perks are not that great. The biggest perk is 6 months no finance on vacation booking.
I stay DVC and therefore do not use the no-finance option. I actually prefer to use my double-cash Citi card which offers me 1% when I purchase and 1% when I pay. I pay it off monthly, so 2% almost instantly.
Sometimes my Discover card offers 5% on purchases for gas, groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc. It changes quarterly. You might look into that as well.

PS - There is RUMOR coming from the inside that Disney and Visa will be ending their contract. IF that comes to fruition, you could always apply for a different card.

If you pay the card monthly, perks are great. If you are gaining finance charges from carrying a balance, it is obviously not a good deal regardless of which card you get. ;)

I love mine!! Not only do I enjoy the points (I have about 200 sitting on it right now) but so many people cashiers comment on it! It's a great source of Disney conversations.

We have used the photo session perk once, and the shopping discount multiple times.

Like others said, I just have the standard (no fee) one, use it for most of my regular household purchases, and pay it off every month.

YES - I have had a few cashiers notice my Disney VISA with Buzz and Woody on the card. It has opened up many an enjoyable conversation!

I usually vacation solo to WDW. I use my Disney VISA for most of my purchases, and then pay it off in full every month. I use the basic one without the annual fee. I also try to pay off the vacation itself a couple of months before the vacation. This way I make the most of the reward points, and I use it for all of my food while I am on vacation. I got a 30% discount on my room only deluxe resort. So in combination with the VISA card, I almost feel like I got my room discount, PLUS free dining. It is terribly important to pay it off in full each month.

We've had one for years. We visit WDW approx. every 5 - 6 years, so we usually have enough rewards built up to cover our food and other purchases.

We got the premier card about a year ago and put all of our groceries, gas, and most other miscellaneous, everyday expenses on it. We also used to to pay for the vacation itself which you get 2% back on as well. We have almost $700 in rewards for our trip next month. The key is to pay off your balance every month otherwise the interest will likely cancel out any rewards.
