We are considering getting a Disney Visa to earn rewards for our Disney Vacation next year. Has anyone done this? Is it worth it?

We use ours as often as possible. We have something like $450 in points for our July trip ;)

We have one that I use for darn near everything. It doesn't earn reward dollars very fast but I figure hey, any reward is good right? Also, we pay it off completely just about every month so I figure the reward dollars are pretty much free.

We don't have the platinum card just the regular card so there isn't an annual fee.

Now, if I could only figure out how to pay my mortgage with a credit card we would be rolling in airline miles and disney dollars in no time.

I've had the Disney Rewards Visa for a few years now. It pays off for me since I use the accumulated points as my spending money on Disney trips, usually on a table service meal and nice souvenir. Thankfully I don't spend enough each month to warrant upgrading to the Premier yet (it has a fee) but maybe someday. Is it going to fully cover a family trip? No, but tack on the meet and greets at the parks and I'm satisfied.

There should be a calculator on the site to plug in potential spending and see if it would be worth it for your family.

I've had the Disney Visa for more than 10 years but I rarely use it. There are so many other credit cards that pay more in rewards. For example, my Amex Blue Cash Preferred card pays 6% cash back on the first $6,000 at grocery stores. That's 6 times the rewards that you'll get with the Disney Visa. The signup bonus from my Citibank AAdvantage card gave us enough miles to cover the airfare for our next trip. With the cost of a Disney vacation getting more expensive each year, I need to get the most bang for my buck in credit card rewards.

We have one. It is normally our back up credit card but when we book a trip, we start using it as our primary card. We had about $200 for our last trip. The rewards from our other cc paid all but $40 of our airfare.

I have used the Disney Visa since it first came out. It has paid for many trips for me and my daughter. It ca pay for our hotel or park tickets, and sometimes both. Several times I have taken "free " trips to WDW except for the food.

A few times I had enough for the room, tickets and some food. Used frequent flyer miles to get there, and the rest of the money for food came from change I throw into a can daily. Free trip.

I charge everything, but remember, you have to be able to pay it off monthly, otherwise it is not a good idea as you would be paying interest. I am fortunate in that I am able to use the card for many business expenses as well, which helps it add up.

I also don't pay for the premium card so the card is free. I love the card, obviously!

We use go every two yrs., and earn about $200-250 with regular Disney Visa., to be used toward OOP meals, BBB, etc. I use it for all my main shopping(Target, BJ's, mall, etc.) We use Discover for gas, groceries, etc.and it is DH's primary card - this gives us cash back so we can use to pay a bill or on Amazon to pay with rewards. We also have SW card that we got a few yrs.back when we got 50,000 bonus pts., which at the time only took one use, and gave us all free flights for that trip. DH uses that occasionally to keep accumulating points, and to purchase tickets, as you get 2x for that. It does have an annual fee, but with the two free flights we got this yr.(one to Disney for DD and I, and one to DS's soccer tour.), we got more out than we payed. Disney Visa does have other perks, like 10% off of $50 or more at Disney store, special photo op at Epcot with a few of Mickey's gang, special faster line for Star Wars photo op at HS, and can get 6 mo. no interest for payoff of trip. They also send special offer emails for things like Broadway shows discounts. For a no annual fee card, you can't go wrong, and will earn some extra money for your trip.

We use it for everything. Pay the balance monthly so you won't have to pay interest. We are a family of 6 so points add up quickly. We have about $1,000 points saved since Jan 2015 that we are using for meals and parking. It works well for us.

IMO the only way you will really benefit from the rewards standpoint is to use the card as much as possible but still pay the balance in full every month. The interest rate is very high and the rewards acculumate slowly (I think only 1% on most purchases.)
The other perks (shopping discount or special in-park perks) aren't anything that my family was too excited about.
I think there are many more cards out there with better perks, sorry Disney.

It may not be the best card for rewards, but I tend to use it a lot. I have the regular, non-fee one. We have been finding that our airline cards just aren't cutting it. Either the airlines schedules are terrible or they block out so much that you can barely use them. In addition to the parks, you can use it at Disney Store. I buy stuff online from them. I also like to use the card specifically on trips for DS souvenirs. It helps him to keep track of his budget and how much he has left. I just transfer specifically the amount onto the rewards card before the trip. It keeps us from having to worry about him carrying money.

EDIT: I forgot about the perks. Some of the hotel/package discounts are released first to them. You can get some discounts on tours, Cirque du Soleil, special events, and purchases (at the parks or Disney Store) over $50. However, if you have an annual pass, the benefits are about the same or maybe better. The meet & greets are a nice bonus though.

We have a Starwood Amex for home and work that we use for most of my spending, so we stay at the Swan and Dolphin quite a bit. We use a Disney Visa in places they won't take Amex. It's not a bad card if you use it for groceries, gas and, of course, Disney!

Ditto. We keep ours only for the meet and greets. We have an Amex that we put almost everything on to get Hilton Honors points. It pays out way more than the Disney Visa. We use a Sams MasterCard for gas because we get 5% back on that. 1% back just isn't enough when there are so many other options for more out there.

I love mine!! Not only do I enjoy the points (I have about 200 sitting on it right now) but so many people cashiers comment on it! It's a great source of Disney conversations.

We have used the photo session perk once, and the shopping discount multiple times.

Like others said, I just have the standard (no fee) one, use it for most of my regular household purchases, and pay it off every month.

Love our Premier card. Have $850 for our trip in a few weeks and that has accumulated since last June when we used rewards on our cruise. 6 months/0% perk is great also.

I signed up for my card as soon as I thought we would be going to Disney on our honeymoon. It's been a little over a year and I have over $100 in rewards now to use on our trip. It might not be the richest reward system out there but if you know you are going to Disney, it's worth having at least the basic one with no annual fee.

We have one, but don't use it a whole lot. I do use it to book our Disney trips so I can take advantage of the 6 months no interest and I do use it for larger purchases in the park so I can get my 10% off. I did have the premier one, but as little as I used it, I was only earning about as much in rewards points per year that the annual fee cost, so I downgraded to the regular one.

We have had one for 4 years and it has been worth it. Nice for discounts, 6 months interest free on our cruises, and the rewards help pay on our trips to WDW. We make sure to pay off our balance every month so we don't have to pay interest. Chase has excellent customer service as well.

It's not a bad card to have, but there are definitely much better offers out there and many that you can use however you want (not just Disney). If you're talking about the regular no annual fee Disney Visa, it's just a regular 1% back. You can def. find much better which you could obviously still use for your Disney trip.
