My husband and I are opening a new Visa card -we are unhappy with our current Marriott card.

We are thinking of the Disney Visa as we go every other year and have talked about buying DVC.

I would imagine many DVC owners own a Disney Visa. Is it worth it - what are the benefits?

It's honestly not the best deal out there....1% of purchase value back in Disney Rewards dollars. We use it because it helps pay for the annual passes every two years. I know there are better cards out there but the Disney Visa makes it really easy to earmark the "savings" for Disney vacations. :)

I have used the discounts shopping in DTD. Also, we are using our reward points to help pay for the annual MF.

I don't know if you can triple dip on discounts, but I have learned that you can double dip in DTD. We got the AP and Disney Visa cardholder's (10%) discounts and didn't even have to use the Visa card. We just showed them the AP and the Visa and bam, 20% off of our purchase. I haven't fully read our perks book to know whether we get a DVC discount in the big DTD store, but if so, I wonder if you could use all three to get 30% off?? Going tomorrow and may try - will let you know. All in all, the Disney Visa discounts and rewards earnings are not that great. Discover is better with cashback rewards IMO

We have used the Disney Visa for a few years now, Last year we had close to 400 points, this year we have the max of 750. We used the card throught the remodeling process of our house. Wish we could have gotten more points we spent 200k on the remodel, charged the Max to the card, of course paid it off with no interest to earn the Diseny points, feels good getting something for nothong when at Disney! will be there 11/4 - 11/10, a few more weeks and it's off to the magic!

Couldn't have said it better myself. We pay our card off in full every month so for us it is like getting free money to spend at Disney - I even charge all of our utilities. I think this trip we'll have $200 to spend which we're going to use to get Christmas pressents. Probably when our son is older and we aren't going to Disney every year we'll change to something else that gives us better rewards but for now it helps our Disney obsession and the card is just so darn cute!

I have one in my name and my husband has another account in his name. That way we can double our yearly max.

If you email them that you want the Cap lifted off of your account, they will do it. I read this on a statement this year. I received two emails that I had reached my limit for Rewards, I emailed them, the Cap was lifted off of my account, all rewards restored to my account. You can have 2 cards per wage earner in your household. We have 4. Pay the cards off every month. You can use the rewards for Disney Cruise, anything in the parks, hotels, it is just like cash. I charge everything to my room, apply the rewards card to the room bill. Have had many free trips since the room is DVC. I have about $4000.00 to spend now, will use this on a cruise that I have booked for next Aug. It's not the best card, but it does take a bite out of the Disney bill.

Another card that I really like is Chase Freedom. You chose if you want Cash or Points. I choose Cash. We took over $1000.00 to Grand Cayman to eat off of. It would work at Disney too.

We also pay our cc in full each month. It is not the best reward card out there but we like to use it towards any Disney expenses. We have used it twice for our on-board dcl account, once towards our DVC resort bill and two/three times towards our maintenace fees.

For travel I would also check out American Express Starwood card. Just curious why you are unhappy with the Marriott card? I just got the "Black" version that gives you 1 night free every year on your anniversary date for a 65 fee.

We have had our Disney Visa for 2 1/2 years now. We pay for all my DH's college tuition, books, gas, etc with it and have taken the rewards dollars with us to both WDW and DL in the past two years. We had about $400 each year to spend on anything we wanted. No out of pocket for souveniers either year and at DL we did not take much cash with and used it for food. We pay it off a the end of the month so, no finance charges so I see it as free Disney money for me!!!:dance3:

We have also used the discounts at World of Disney and saved $$. Now with hopefully owning a DVC in the next month, we can use it for many more years!!!:yay: :woohoo:

Oh, and if you purchase through Disney you get 6 months, 0% to pay for your vacation and if you want to charge a portion of your Down payment on a DVC purchase, you can...up to $2500 you also get the 6 months 0%.

I had no idea about this! I will call the Card today to see if the limit can be lifted, We actually spent about 130k of the remodel on the card. We will see what happens! Thanks so much for the info. I never read the fine print!! maybe I better start!!! Once again Thank you so much for the very useful information.

I can't vouch for the card being better or worse than other reward cards because the Disney is the only card we use.

We pretty much charge everything on the Visa to accumulate points for our Disney vacations. We usually end up with at least 500 points for use and the card is good for anything Disney- even at the Trout Pass Pool Bar!!! The other perks are good, too!

The one thing I know is that it sure helps out with vacation spending $$. One less thing we have to worry about. We do pay the balance off every month. We never carry a balance. Hope this helps.

I don't know how far back they will go back, but I have received the $750.00 reached Cap email twice this year, I email them that I had read on the statement that the Cap was to be lifted and I want my Rewards restored. Within one day I receive a email that my account is restored. I do go the the Chase web site to verify this.

we have the card and love it. we use it and pay it off at the end of the month. you can also show the card at the world of disney store in dtd and get a discount (you do not even have to pay with the card - just show it). there are also other perks (card holder only pins etc.).:goodvibes
