Disney Visa

When I 1st received my Disney Visa I thought all I would get in
rewards was $1.00 for every $100.00 but
they offer different promotions in which you can receive from
2%, 3% and 5%.

Visa will send the information about the extra rewards % in the newletter
and will give you a CODE to enter into your account and get the Extra
% Rewards.

I was able to build up $171.00 for our last trip within 10 months because
of the Extra %.

We are not big spenders but I put everyday things on my DV like Grocerys,
gas, ect and it ads up.

rccruiser,

We also have an HHonors AMEX (in addition to our Disney Visa), and we also like it. After 5 years we accumulated enough points to get 6 free nights at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii, and that was great. With disciplined use you can get a 3% or more return on it.

But I still prefer the Disney Visa for everyday use. Everyone takes Visa, and there is never any question of being able to use the accumulated points. Although the DTD Hilton is a fine hotel, we usually stay at DVC resorts. Away from WDW, we don't stay in hotels that often, and when we do Hilton brands are not always the best choice in a particular location.

SGMCO, perhaps they do that for new cardmembers. We did get some bonus the first couple years. But the last two years we haven't seen any bonuses at all.

We absolutely LOVE the Disney Visa and it's Reward Card!

Since we pay our balance in full each month, we charge EVERYTHING - groceries, clothing, gas, Dr. bills, restaurants, and even cell phone and DirecTV bills - EVERYTHING!! Then when we book our Disney vacation, we charge that too. The reward dollars accumulate fast - we had almost $500 to use during our last annual trip in September.

To clarify, there are very few places that do not accept the Rewards card as payment. Practically every restaurant and every store in the Parks and Resorts accepts the Disney Reward card - even the ice cream and popcorn carts!

I do have one question regarding the Disney Visa card though - and was hoping someone could help.....
When Disney offers the Free Dining option to Disney Visa Cardholders before they offer it to the general public, how are you notified of this offer? For most other special Disney Visa offers, I have been receiving flyers in the mail or even emails. But I never received any notification about the Free Dining Offer - before they announced it to the general public. Luckily, I anticipated the announcement and watched the AllEars website every day in early April, and that's where I read the news.
Granted, it's only offered to Disney Visa cardholders for 4 days before it's available to everyone - but if I hadn't been watching AllEars on a daily basis, I would never have been notified of this "benefit".

I've been having my Visa for 1 1/2 years and continue getting specials.
Maybe after I've had it 2 years then I won't be able to get the offers?:confused3

We got the card last November, and by the time we went to Disney in August, we had $300 free money. We pay our card off every month, so we didn't pay any interest, and there's no annual fee, so it was truly free money. It covered our one night stay at Pop, all of our food for Day 1 of an 8 day trip, and all but $10 of our admission to Blizzard Beach (3 adults, 1 child). We used to use an airline miles card, and though we never had problems redeeming the miles for flights, the card company changed the number of miles we need for a free ticket and we couldn't earn enough for even one free ticket in the year between trips, so now we stick with the Disney card. We know we'll be able to spend those dollars:).

Don't send in the apps through the mail. Use this link & apply on-line. You get a $50 rewards card FREE! I used this link a month ago and I can see the $50 rewards on my statement now.

I want to get a Disney Visa.... this link looks like a great offer. But who is first usa?

Anyone else have info about best deal (how to sign up) to get my 1st Disney Visa?

What kind of credit limit do they give on these?
I've gotten cards with a spending limit of $500 and I've gotten other cards more in the $5,000 range. I was hoping they'd give you a high enough limit to pay for my vacation ??

How do they do this?

I don't know about First USA or that link, but here is a link to the Disney VISA, offered by Chase:

I would say the credit limit they give is based on your credit score/history. We have a large enough limit to pay for multiple Disney vacations. And you can always request an increase to your limit, right on the Chase VISA website. You can also monitor account activity, review statements, and make payments online too.

Also - if you book your Disney vacation through Disney World Travel Co and pay with the Disney VISA, you get 6 months 0% financing.

maybe there is more than one Disney Visa? We got ours last year before our first trip. We got 0% financing and a $40.00 credit. We put the trip on it, the hotel on both our way down and back, ECV rental and all non-covered WDW expenses such as many, many, many souveniers! :goodvibes I kept saving the money up to the 6 month point, earning a little interest, and then paid it off! We have had no problems! :thumbsup2 We do not use it for everyday items/purchases, however, that is a great idea and a way to earn Disney Rewards!

The firstusa link ends up being a Chase Disney Visa which is great b/c that is who I bank through. So, I log in to chase and have my bank info & credit card info right there for on-line viewing. As previously posted, you get $50 in rewards after your first purchase. I got an application in the mail too, but it was for free uggage so I used the firstUSA link to get the $50 in rewards. It got approved pretty quick & I got my Chase Disney Visa card within 1 week.

You are welcome! I actually got the link from the DIS :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear that people are getting their card so soon after applying. I called in before applying online to get some questions answered and the lady said 10 - 30 days for approval. I plan to make my reservation within the next week (we are going in May) and we just applied Monday. I don't want to reserve on the debit card if I don't have too. My reasons for getting this card were the 0% on purchases for 12 months and the 0% for 6 months vacation financing. It doesn' hurt to get a Disney gift card too after our first purchase. Yeah the variable APR is not very low, but after looking around at a lot of cards (unless you get some offer in the mail) lowest rate we found start out at 9.xx% and that is not always gauranteed.

thanks for all the great questions and answers :)

The tours are discounted at 20% too. We love our Disney Visa. I use our Rewards to pay for our dining.

I did not realize that! We will definately utilize that discount next trip! :goodvibes Thanks!

Yes, I had the Concierge at the WL hotel tell me this. I pull out all my possible discounts, Ap, AAA, DVC, Disney Visa. I let them tell me which one will be the best.:lmao:

Does anyone know if they are still doing the character meet -n- greet at EPCOT? I thought the expiration was the end of Sept. Has anyone been there and used this benefit recently?
