Hi all ~ I have the Disney Visa card and usually I pay it in full every month; however, this month I had a bit of an emergency come up and I am carrying a balance. Is there any penalty if I transfer the balance to a 0% interest card as far as the reward dollars go? I would like to transfer the balance to a 0% card so that I can pay off the balance in the next couple of months without paying the interest but I am hoping I won't lose my rewards dollars if I do a balance transfer. I can't find it in the small print. Anyone know or done this? Thanks.

No problem at all it doesn't matter how you pay it also as your account is not past due you rewards dollars are fine.

Just be aware that the 0% interest card may charge you a hefty balance transfer fee. Make sure you know the full terms regarding the transfer before you do it.

Exactly! It's usually $50 or 2% of the balance. That can add up to some serious change!

If your balance is under $1000 or so and you think you'll be able to pay it off in the next two months, it's probably better to just carry it on the Disney Card.

I considered transferring my balance to a Citibank Cash Back card, but you pay a 3 percent transfer fee.

Read the fine print on the balance transfer option. Usually it's 2% or up to $50. The $50 is the maximum you should be paying.

And, if it's getting you from 14.99% or whatever to 0% and you think it's going to be a while before you can pay the balance in full, you should recoup your $50 fairly quickly. You'll just need to do the math.

Regardless, you shouldn't lose reward dollars for transferring the balance.
