I am in the middle of a slight panic right now. We decided to buy DVC - and purchased VWL from Disney - all was well. Our payment due date is July 30. At the same time I applied for and received a Disney Visa, with the intent to put the purchase on it and get the points. So, I set up the charge for Friday, the 27th) and today got a call from credit card fraud - and they declined the transaction because it was a new account and they suspected fraud! We went through all the ID drills and I assured them I intended this purchase. But, now I have to call Member Services and ask them to re-run the transaction. I am a bit nervous and hope that they don't cancel my points before I can do this tomorrow - which would also cancel my October vacation. It is still on the web site. Has anyone had something like this happen, and what was the result?

This happened to us the last time we added on points. All you have to do is call member services tomorrow and just explain what happened. They are use to it I would guess. They will resubmit the transaction and all should be fine.

Welcome Home!!

Oh, thank goodness. I had visions of them cancelling my contract and vacations! I guess I should have inquired as to whether this sort of transaction would be questioned, but in all my excitement, it did not occur to me.

Good Timing!!

I was planning on asking the question.
Can you put DVC on your disney visa?

I guess the answer is yes, since you got bounced from charging because of suspected fraud.

Yes, lots more disney points for the next vacation!!!!!

So funny, my DH and I were just talking about that. If you buy DVC on Disney Visa, is it 6 mo interest free- like if you book a trip on one?

My understanding was that only a limited portion (maybe $2000?) of a DVC could be interest free. Since our charges have not yet gone through I have not tested that part. On the bright side, mu guide also called me (after a panicked phone call to her) and told me she e-mailed member services about it and that I can call tomorrow and everything will be fine. Apparently, as another poster mentioned, this happens from time to time.

Disney Visa seems to have a great fraud department - anything out of your usual. It didn't happen to me buying DVC - but appliances. I was buying a new stove, fridge, dishwasher, since I don't normally charge $4000 they denied the charge. I was so embarrassed. I had to talk to the fraud department and finally the charge went through.

When you put the DVC purchase on the Disney Visa, they seem to automatically put $2500 of it into an interest free situation for 6 months :thumbsup2

Member Services - accounting is going to re-run my charge and suggested I call tomorrow to verify that it did indeed go through. Hope that everything now goes as planned.

I was told 10% of the purchase price would be 0%interest for 6 months on an add on

Do you guys that have Disney Visas typically apply your member reward "points" towards DVC annual dues? We were thinking of getting one to start helping with that aspect. Was curious to see what others do...

I checked my credit card on the phone and the transaction is authorized to post - so I guess all is now well!

I was looking into the Disney Visa. Is it really only $1 rewards dollar per $100 charged? I am trying to decide if it is worth it to add another card to my credit report for that kind of ratio.

I miss the days of the Amex discounts... :-)

I do this every year. It pays about 1/2 of our dues. Around November I call and get my reward card. When I get my bill I transfer all of my rewards to the rewards card and then call Member Services. I tell them I want to use my rewards and give them the card number. They apply that and then tell me what my balance is. I then put the balance on the Disney Visa (and get more reward points).

Yes, $1 per $100 charged. We did it because we were buying DVC and will get a great bonus through the charge of the purchase price - and will use that for souveniers and meals on our next trip.

We recently purchased 100 points at AKV and put the purchase on our American Express 123 card. This is the card from Costco that gives you 1% on regular purchases, 2% on travel, and 3% on restaurants. So I got 200 back. I can use that towards any dues or whatever at Disney. To me the cash is better. Chase may have a good fraud dept., but when you think of it, they are embarrassing you to protect themselves. I don't think you are responsible for more than 50.00 of fraudulent charges.

OP - that's our intent too: use Disney rewards for either dues or meals at Disney.

The one thing that irks me with the Disney Visa is the lack of extra point opportunities - like restaurants and gas. basically it only has the 1% on general purposes- rounded down. OTOH it doesn't have an annual fee - the AMEX offers I get have annual fees of $75-90 after the first year.

The Disney Visa generally has the best discounts on backstage tours- several of them are 20% off.

If you don't have too many credit cards already - given the lack of annual fees, the Disney Visa does make a good secondary card for the household.

The Costco American Express Card has no annual fee. It goes hand in hand with the Costco membership.
