disney visa rewards

Its so good to have these DIS boards to get a sence of everyone's opinion and to see what's out there..

Thanks .... :disrocks:

I'll keep my 1:1 (no blackout problems) and when I spend my 25K (NOT 250K) I'll get my airline ticket to Orlando!! ;)

I agree it's not the best deal out there, but the free movie perk really helps. I recently opened a Chase rewards card that gives back 5% cash on grocery, gas and drug store purchases, plus 1% back on everything else. I got a $100 cash bonus just for opening the account and making my first purchase. So, I'm using this card for all my food, gas and drug store purchases and I use my Disney card for other things. I should have about $200 Disney reward dollars by the time we go to Disney in January. I don't know how much I'll continue using it after that trip. It'll probably be awhile before we go back to Disney after this trip (of course, I always say that but we always find a way  ).

We've been looking for a cc that gives back more than 1 percent, but they all seem to have a limit of $300 a year. Does this one have a limit? Doesn't the Disney Visa have a limit of $700 per year? We put EVERYTHING on it, pay it off each month and it's really added up. I'd love to know of a good cash back program though.

For me, it's a forced Disney savings. We aren't raking in the money to go several times a year, so by using the Disney Visa, at least we have some spending money saved for our next trip. Coming up with fun money is always the problem, so this way, we'll have it!

It's more realistic to compare what you get for those points. And as someone earlier pointed out, spending $250K can get your $250 in Disney Dollars to spend freely, or can get you one airline ticket that's severely limited in its usefulness.

$250K in charges would net you $2,500 reward dollars, but with the $750 yearly limit you'd need several cards to do it!

Sorry i did not mean to be rude, all i meant was when you look at it one way, you think gee $100/ 1 point...But i would spend that much on my own card with no points to be had and still have to pay a fee..

Did not me to come across rude..

We got first crack at Lion King seats because of our Disney Visa Card. We're going Thursday. :cool1:

OTOH, we also have an AMEX card, and are redeeming our rewards for Home Depot gift cards, and will be getting a new washer (front loading! :cool1: ) and dryer soon without putting out cash.

I believe the original purpose of this thread was examining the ability to buy disney dollars with disney reward dollars.

Just wanted to let the OP and anyone else know that you can put your disney reward dollars on your room account when you check in. Just let the CM know you want to put a credit (not credit card though you'll also want to do this) on your room account. I've done this with both a stack of Disney Dollars that I didn't want to have to carry around and with my Disney Rewards Card. I'll be doing it again in January.

Just make sure you know how many rewards dollars you have on your card as you'll need to tell the CM how much you would like to put on the room.

I believe officially you reward dollars are not good for cash or cash equivalents. Therefore Disney Dollars, being cash equivalent, would not be allowed. I know a lot of people have been able to get them. My mom was unable to get them at our local (1 hour away) store but I was able to at Disneyland. You might try while at WDW to get them. But you can use the rewards card to charge at any place that accepts credit cards.

C'mon Seneca... Where are you? We're all waiting to hear who's offering a better deal with no Annual Fee! I'd love to know. I mean I can get a round trip ticket from here for well under $150(the last 5 years anyway), so you can rule out airlines that ask me to spend $25,000 for 1 ticket. Where can I find the best deal--any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Or several years.

For my trip this past October, my United ticket from Los Angeles to Orlando was only $200 (incl taxes and fees). That means the reward would've been .8%. Spending $25K to earn that ticket, it would've cost me $50 on a credit card that gives back 1% cash. As said earlier, points vs. cash can't always be compared. It's the value of the points. I will only use my airline mileage points, if a plane ticket is going to cost me more than $250.

I'm getting a bit confused :confused3 ummm... when should I redeem for rewards? like is there a certain point before we go on vacation I should request the card, and then the deal is say I have 50 points, that's worth $50 like cash card? thanks for any advice :teeth:

I would order the rewards card no less then 2 weeks before I need it. Yes with the Disney Visa it is $ not points, so that $50 is $50.

I am hoping to get my disney rewards & use them in the park for what ever I want to buy. When they are gone I will just use my disney visa.
We are going Jan 27- feb5 2006. Staying at POP
Chase disney visa has an offer for a cardmember exclusive charecter meet 'n' greet event with keepsake 5X7 photo. Has anyone done this that they could tell me about it?
Thanks

The Meet and Greet was really good! We just did this a couple of weeks ago...it was in Innoventions West, right across from the PS2 games  (my ds10 spent alot of time in that area!). You need to sign in with the CM on duty. You just have to show them your Disney Visa and you are all set. They give you a coupon so you can pick up your free 5x7 down at the photo center across from Spaceship Earth. We didn't get a whole lot of time with the characters because it was close to closing time, but it was nice to have that one on one interaction with no other onlookers! We had Minnie and Donald, but they do change daily. Our friends had gone the day before us and had a different character (and only one character for them). They give you a Photopass, and they take a few pictures. I think we had 3 or 4 to choose from. When you go to pick up your photo, they can superimpose the date and a border on there if you want. It really was a nice keepsake! Our's turned out good enough to buy a frame for it!

Have a great time!

You can add points after you've ordered the card, so there's really no reason to wait until right before your trip. I'm going in December, and I received mine a couple of weeks ago. I left $10 worth of rewards in my account when I ordered the card, since that's the minimum you can transfer to a reward card. Right before the trip I'll have all my remaining rewards put on the card. Keep in mind that your rewards don't expire while they're in your account, but once you put them on a card they are good for a limited time - one year, I think?

Yes the rewards cards to expire, and all rewards on that card expire along with it. Card ordered between now and the end of the year expire 12/06. Those ordered after the first of the year will expire 12/07

To pay a balance on your hotel stay? or is just for the other things that you need (food, souvenirs, etc)

Yes, your rewards card can be used to pay for your hotel stay. I always put the entire amount on my hotel bill, then just use my Disney Hotel Key to pay for everything around the parks.
