We are going on a trip to WDW in May - how soon should I request my Reward Money? The sooner the better? Or would it be ok to wait until april to request it for a trip starting May21?

Thanks

Just listening in :listen:

I am trying to learn more about the Rewards (just started using my card :earsgirl: )

It took me about 3 weeks when first ordering my card. I would say go ahead and order it if you are going in May. You can add any more rewards you earn between now and your trip online so there's no reason not to go ahead and place the order.

Just be careful...don't wait till the last minute to put on any major purchases to earn rewards dollars. Your statement must close for the month before they can transfer the points over. Once you make the request to transfer the points into rewards dollars (and you already have the rewards card in hand) the transfer is an immediate transaction. Hope this info helps. Wish I would have known it before getting our park tickets just three weeks out from our trip.

Pam

Thank you! I will go ahead and put my request in after this statement closes this month - I do not plan on making any major purchases with it before our trip.

We were able to save over $400 on our ASmo resort last summer by using a special rate for Disney VISA holders....check out these types of "rewards" as well.

I was going to wait until March 1st to order mine for our March 17th trip, but now I'm thinking of ordering now. I do plan to make some large purchases before the end of Feb. I know they will only issue a rewards card if you have at least $20 in rewards, but will they transfer less than that? I know I won't spend $2,000 between now and then.

When you first order the card, you must put a minimum of $20 on the rewards card. After that, you can transfer as much as you want, I believe, once you have the card.

Once you have your reward card, you can only transfer with a minimum of $10, so if you have a couple of months before the trip, and only gain, for example, $5 more and you want that $5, wait till after that statement clears. Otherwise, you can't more that $5 by itself.

Order your card now if this is your first time. It is re-fillable (if that makes sense) I was actually at Disneyland one day and called and they transfered dollars to my card immediately - the available ones. You can continue to re-load your points every month until you travel once you receive the card. We hardly paid for meals last summer by using the card for WDW food.

Just becareful as the reward cards expire (or the original ones did) and you don't want to have a balance on the card when it expires. At WDW there is a location at DTD where you can pick up the phone and have your points transfered immediately - which is what we do when we are there when our statement closes.

I picked up my rewards card at Guest Relations at Downtown Disney. I then called an 800# and the rewards dollars were added to my card. So - you don't have to order it in advance.

Is there a specific web site for the rewards program? Does it show special vacation packages? Any info would be helpful. I am planning a Dec trip to WDW and was hoping for a deal (Fingers crossed)! :goodvibes
Thanks!

Last summer we ordered our card with the minimum rewards transfered on it. Then once we got to WDW I called from either my cell phone or resort phone (having a brain freeze as i can't remember) and had the rest of the rewards immediately transfered to the card. We drive to disney & for us this was best incase something happen to cancel our trip or incase it got misplaced.

The rewards program is more like a rebate in dollars for using the Disney Visa card. There are no special vacation packages directly tied to the Rewards Card but there are soem tide to the Disney Visa card itself. All offers can be viewed when you log into your account online.

I asked this question the other day, but didn't get any answers....

Does anyone have any information on the "new" program which supposedly lets you purchase certificates for Disney music, movies and games with your rewards?? I remember seeing a link on the Disney Visa website a few months ago, and it said "come back soon..." as the program was still being tweaked I guess. Now I don't see anything about it on the website??

I have some rewards on my card that didn't get used up, and the card expires in Dec. I have time to use it, but our plans for returning to Disney have changed for this year :sad2: I was hoping to be able to use my points to buy my kids some birthday stuff like CD's and video games (Disney ones) in May.

Thanks for any help!
Marcy

I do know that, at one time, you could use the card at Disneystores. If not, you can use it on disneydirect.com.
