My In-laws are taking the family to DL and she told me that she has two Disney Visa cards with 250 points on each for my family and BIL's family.

Unfortunately she doesn't always pay attention to details, so I am unsure what 250 points means. How much would she have to charge to get 500 points? This would give me an idea if she could have earned that many points. Lastly, do the cards that Disney Visa sends out expire? I know that she has had the charge card for about four years and I am not sure when she ordered the award cards.

Thanks

You earn 1% with the disney visa so for each $100 you spend you get $1. If she has 500 pts she charged $50,000 over the last 4 years. That is not hard to do. You can also get bonus points throughout the year and they usually give you $25 for siging up and an additional $25 for each person you refer who actually signs up for a card. The actual rewards cards have to be ordered they are shipped through the mail with the amount of points you have and want loaded on them. The reward cards are good for a year. The points do expire. On her credit card statement it states when points she has will expire it's either 4 or 5 years they remain on the visa account.

The Disney Visa gives 1% in rewards, so to have earned 500 reward dollars she would have charged $50,000. I believe the reward cards expire 1 year from the date of issue; there should be an expiration date printed on the front of the card.

FYI, if she loaded her reward dollars onto the rewards card at some point in the past, and the rewards card is now expired, she's lost those reward dollars. If the rewards card has her dollars on it and is not yet expired, but will expire before her trip, tell her to go to disneyshopping.com and use the rewards card to buy Disney gift cards. (Not the e-gift cards that are only good on the website, the regular Disney gift cards.) Those don't expire, so she'll be able to save all those reward dollars to use on her trip.

Thanks for the info.

What is the minimum amount of points you have to have to get a Rewards Card?

I am fairly new to the whole Disney Visa card. I've only had mine just about a year now. I have not redeemed any points yet. but I do know that she could have spent much less if she had recieved one of those 5X original awards offers. It's a program where after you spend a certain amount on certain types of purchases, you get 5 dollars instead of 1 dollar for all add'l qualifying purchases. Quite a few people get these offers. and from the postings I've seen, people have really racked up some serious disney money this way. So she could have spent less to earn those rewards dollars. I don't remember how long the rewards are good for, but on your statement it will tell you when they are due to expire. HTH some lol.
Have a wonderful trip. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info.

What is the minimum amount of points you have to have to get a Rewards Card?

You need to have a minimum of $20 in rewards dollars to order your first rewards card. After that, you need a minimum of $10 in rewards dollars to transfer additional rewards to an existing card or to order a second card. You can have up to 2 active rewards cards at any given time.

You can transfer any amount over $10, it does not have to be in $10 increments.
