Do all Disney restaurants (at the parks and resorts, QS and TS) accept the Disney Visa rewards redemption card? I was wondering specifically about Yak and Yeti (since they're owned by Landry's), but thought I'd ask to see if there are any others that might not accept it.

Thank you!

I'm not sure about Yak and Yeti, but every place on Disney property that I've tried o use my rewards card, it's been accepted.

Yak and Yeti does not except the redemption card... At least they did not the last few times we were there. As you stated they are owned by Landry's not by Disney.

Sorry Yak and Yeti does not accept the redemption card. Even though it’s on Disney’s property it is owned by Landry’s not Disney. As you stated above. But don’t let that stop you… It is a wonderful place. Back in the day it was a hidden gem and now everyone knows about it!

Sorry I replied to this twice… We have been having problems with our Internet or maybe it’s the cheap drugs lol😊

Oh shoot. OK, well thanks for letting me know so I can plan for this. Yes, we're looking forward to going (never been before). I tried for a while, unsuccessfully, to get a reservation through Disney, but ended up signing up for the Landry card as someone on these boards suggested and got a reservation just like that. :teeth:

I would not recommend using your redemption card at TS restaurants. Unfortunately, I've had too many points deducted at TS restaurants and didn't discover the error until my next purchase. There is really nothing you can do to recover points if they are deducted in error. I would use your points at QS or merch locations or put them toward your WDW resort reservation. Anything that doesn't have a "gratuity" line on the receipt.

Thanks for the reply! Is the redemption card not used like a regular credit card where you would see on the receipt how much is being charged (and also how much is left on the card after the charge)?

Sometimes places where tipping is the norm put a temporary hold for more than the check amount at first, in expectation that a tip will be added. So some of the funds on the card may be held up until that temporary hold clears and the final amount is deducted.
I've never had an issue with more being deducted than should have been.

Interesting. Thanks for clarifying. I will definitely keep an eye on it if I use at TS restaurants.

Thanks! Now I know for the next time I go there. A little odd, since I know of a few places at DS that are not owned by Disney, but take the Disney Visa Rewards Redemption card. Ghirardelli's, for instance.

Couple of things to note:
  • Disney Redemption card can be used online at ShopDisney to buy Disney gift cards. You can also use Retailmenot to earn cashback on that purchase. This has been confirmed on the Updated Disney Gift Card thread
  • I believe what @Marthasor is referring to is called Tip Tolerance, which essentially means any place you would likely leave a tip or incur incidental expenses an automatic hold of 20% will be applied to your gift card GC.
    • If your GC has a face value of $80 and your bill is $69 your GC will be declined for insufficient funds, even though you plan on paying the tip in cash.
    • However, I've only found this to be true when using Prepaid & Variable load Visa & Mastercard GC. It also includes Discover & American Express gift cards.
  • What I find interesting @Marthasor, your suggesting Tip Tolerance is on the Disney Redemption Card. Not saying that isn't true, though I've never heard of it mentioned on the Disney gift card thread.

Thanks for the clarification. So sounds like I should be OK with using the redemption card at TS restaurants.

I'm not saying that, I've never used my Disney Redemption card (DRC) at any restaurant. I'd rather earn money on it.

What I am saying is I've never heard of Tip Tolerance being imposed on DRC but that doesn't mean @Marthasor isn't correct.

Not sure if you are staying on property or not.. but if you are then we usually just charge our dinners to our room. And then we apply the rewards redemption towards our room balance. Then we don't have to worry about the tipping etc.

Yes, we are on property and that's a great idea. Thanks!

We use it every trip. The only placed that have not accepted it are those NOT owned by Disney. This includes restaurants and stores.

I wasn't referring to tip tolerance. Unfortunately, I think I had a server who decided to tip themselves a little more with my card. I only use the card now for purchases that have no gratuity line on the receipt. There is no way to dispute the over-redemption of points, so I don't risk it any longer.

If you do this make sure you go and apply the rewards before the morning of check out... Like the night before or earlier if you want. If you wait until the morning of check out then they may have charged your credit card already and then they have to reverse/refund the credit card and it can be a pain.

Great advice, thanks!
