Disney Visa rewards expiring, what would you do?

I have a Disney Visa that I got back in 2006. Some of my rewards points are expiring. I had originally hoped to take another Disney vacation by now. But, that's not going to happen. I'm not even sure when or if we'll ever get back to Disney. Finances aren't the best right now. :sad1:

I think I have about $86 in rewards right now. I know that you get a rewards card, how long are these good for? And then you can also buy Disney gift cards, how long would these be good for? I had thought of getting a gift card for the future to use on a trip, but it might not be for 5 or 10 years that we go again, so that probably doesn't make sense. Would they be good for 10 years? :confused3

Thanks! :)

Get a Disney iIft Card and you can save it for your next trip. That's what I did. I bought a gift card for future use and save it for my next trip deposit or tickets.

I would have them transferred to a rewards card and then buy Christmas gifts from the online store (or an actual store if you are near one).

I'm not sure if you can buy Disney giftcards with a Disney Visa rewards card. If you can, that would be the best route go to - Disney giftcards never expire and don't go down in value. So, yes, if you can use a DVrewards card to buy gc's, it would still be good in 10 years.

Good advice. You can absolutely buy Disney giftcards using the DV rewards card, I have about a 1/2 inch stack of Disney GCs purchased at disneygiftcard.com via this method.

Once a rewards card i requested, it is good for 1 year. As everyone suggested, if you can't use the money within that year, then go to www.disneystore.com and buy gift certificate(s), they never expire.

I didn't know you could buy Disney GC with the rewards points! I'm so glad to know this because I was worried about what would happen if we had to cancel a trip and the card was only good for a year. My TA will only refund money the way in which it was paid so if a trip got cancelled , I'd get it back on the rewards card which isn't good for very long. Good info to know!

The card expires on Dec. 31 of the year following the year it was ordered. So if you were to order one today, the card you receive would expire 12/31/12. If you wait to order one until Jan 2012, the card you receive will expire 12/31/13.

Thanks! I think I'll go the gift card route, we really would like to take another trip to Disney someday! :goodvibes
