Please forgive me if this was covered someplace else, but after reading countless threads about the expiration of the Rewards Card, I had to check here with the "pros". I recently put in my order for the Rewards Card last week and got my card today. The expiration is December 2006. I know many (many many) people have complained about hos it expires the last day of the CURRENT year. Did I miss an update somewhere or is this something new?

I was a charter member. When I got my first card, my expiration was in 9-12 months. They sent me a renewal card a month before with a 2 year expiration date. It's probably just something they do for new card members. It doesn't affect your account. If you're in good standing, they'll just keep sending renewal cards. The rewards points remain good for the life of the account.

Only downside I can see is you can't withdraw Disney dollars until you have 20 available. I only used mine for small, cellphone airtime purchases so I've been stuck at 6 dollars forever. My Disney passes should up that.

I believe the reward card has always expired in December of the year after you got the card. So if you got the card in December, it was valid for 12 months. If you got the card in January, it was valid for 23 months. The first card we ordered on February 2004 expires in December 2005. Just remember that the card expires whether it still has a balance or not.

Ahh .. okay. Thank you both for the replies. I apparently was misunderstanding something. I thought the card exipired the year OF your receiving it (which led me to many question of "what if you get the card in November - you only have one month to use it? How unfair). Now I get it... thanks again. ;0)

PS - 30 days to go before the honeymoon .. woo-Hoo

Actually I was under the same impression because I thought that was why people were complaining. I assumed if you got a card in November you only had a month or so to use it. I just ordered one for my trip in February and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it didn't expire until December 2006. I thought it would expire in December 2005. Looks like I can use the same card for our trip in February 2006. Now to just rack up some new points. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone.
A rainy day here but who cares!
Just a thought: Think about this...the Disney Visa, like any other Rewards Visa is a, well, a money maker for Disney. It is for any company who's name is on a reward card.
Do you really get free money? That is the question.
I know many say they are getting money or points for money they would have spent anyway. However, think about this...
Let us say you have an average credit score and get a card with a $2,000 limit at 16.9% to 21% interest. Everyone's credit interest varies based on their credit score.
Now, you go out to dinner, buy gas, take a trip to Disney and charge $2,000 on your Disney card. Great you just earned 25 bonus points plus 20 extra points (1 point for every $100 you spend). Well, that's all good except one thing. You better hope to pay off your Disney Visa each month so you can start racking up more points. Most people DO NOT. Therefor, interest will kick in or a late fee, cash advance fee, etc....Then guess what? The points are not free. You are paying for them and donating a few pennies or percentages of the interest/fees to the company named on the card and the bank the card is issued under.
If you pay the minimum balance on a $2,000 balance. It can take you over 15 years to pay it off. You are not earning a lot of points are you?
I think the interest charges alone in that time frame would have paid for a lovely 7 day cruise for two.
So, one could be much better off and have, in the long run, a cheaper vacation by paying for most or a large potion of it in good old cash. You will have a lot more spending money in the end with cash. Just not as much fun, LOL. Do not sign up for a card if you want "free" points of prizes. You do pay for them.
Get a card simply to put off payments for a later date and have FUN!
This is just a thought and does not apply to everyone. Just something to think about.

1% return is not that great. See terms/fees of Disney Visa card fine print for more shocking facts.

I pay my bill each month. The rewards are gravy (About $50 every 6 months).

Can I ask a related question? I have a card that expires 12/2005. I now want to get my reward dollars that have been sitting in my account. Do they just "reload" my present card, or do they send me a whole new one? I think I have 98 cents left on the present one! LOL!

Don't know how to do it. HELP!

They willl reload - just call the 800 number on your card and they will transfer u to the right department.

Does anyone know if the rewards have to show up on a bill before you can transfer them? In other words, if I buy my DW tickets in early April can I have those points moved to my reward card before my trip (last week in April) even though this transaction will not show up on my bill till the next month? Thanks.

You do when you use it for only business expenses and then work reimburses you for those (which then goes promptly to the card).

So far this year alone, I've put at least $3,000 in travel expenses on my card. So, that's $30 free dollars for me.

They are credited to your account when the statement comes out.

You can do it online or by calling, BUT if there is a chance you won't use them by the end of this year I would just have them send a new card since it would have a Dec. 2006 expiration date.

I got the card with the intention of just paying bills with it but of course I've charged a few other purchases to the card but rarely carry a balance so I do feel like it is "free" money. My only other card is an AmEx and I was able to get my DH his Disney Speedway ride along for free with my points from that card!!!
