I have been using my VISA card to rack up the Reward Dollars:) ! Can I use the Reward Dollars towards the cost of our cruise or can I only use them for our onboard bill?

Sorry - i don't have the answer either. I've already paid for my cruise but want to transfer my Disney Visa points to my onboard account. What is the process to do this?

It is rather simple actually! All you have to do is call the 1-800 number on the back of your card and advise customer service that you want to "cash in" your reward dollars. They will send out a card with the amount of reward dollars you have on your account (has to be at least 20). It took us about a week and a half from the time we called to the time we received our cards. They say to keep the card even after you use the reward dollars as it can be recharged at your request provided you had earned at least the 20 reward dollars. Hope this helps.

Edit: once you have the card in hand you can bring it to guest services and they credit your account.

Hi all! I used my Disney Reward Dollars during our recent trip. It was nice. While I was planning our trip, I realized that another biling cycle would pass, but not enough time to wait for a card. Disney Visa told me to go to guest services in Downtown Disneyand I could pick up my card there!

you can use it for a cruise if you purchase through disney-the card is good to make purchases at disney stores, parks, and cruise line, etc, but it has to be a disney outlet. We have used it to pay on board cedit as we book through an independent agent. We have used it to purchase park passes at disney and for food while in the park.

oh one more thing-you can get your card ( if you have 20 points) and have them "load" more points as the bill ocmes in. I got the card and knew that a bill would come just before I left and I could load more points.

I used mine this past Feb and now have "reloaded" it for my cruise this Sat with the points I have earned since then.

I don't even bother calling Visa....I log onto the website and transfer my points to the Rewards Card that way. It gives you a history of your point transfers and shows how much money you have on the rewards card, etc. Very easy to use.

I paid some of my cruise bill with DU with some of my points. Saving more to use for the onboard expenses. I was a bit wary of using too many to pay for the cruise b/c if something should happen & I not go, don't know if they would be refundable.

I remember reading here on the DIS some time ago that someone applied all of their points to their onboard account and didn't spend them all (I don't know how thats possible:teeth: ). They were not able to reload their card with the unused points. So only use your points to pay off existing balances and leave the rest on your card until needed.

Thanks for all of the great info! I do have a Rewards Card and easily used our Rewards Dollars during our WDW trip. Our cruise ressie is through AAA, but it sounds as if I can apply some of my dollars towards the cruise. I know my DD is counting on the dollars for all of her ship souvenirs!! pirate:

When we cruised previously, I thought that, at check-in, they swiped our credit card for our onboard account. Since we want to use our rewards first, do we just decline that step, then go to Guest Services and have them swipe our card, then when that money runs out (or shortly before) take our credit card to be swiped?

I am sure that our reward dollars won't cover our entire cruise, but should cover a significant portion and I definitely want to use them before incurring a charge on my card.

Anyone? Thanks!

We cruised last month on RCCL and we needed to provide a credit card at check in. You should be able to go to Guest Services and have them apply your Rewards Dollars to your account; at the end of the week onlyt the balance will be charged to your credit card.

We cruised 9/9 and I went down the last night and had them use all of my remaining Disney Visa dollars. They had already made a charge to my CC, but in the end they ended up crediting some back on my CC for what was used by the dollars. Did this at Hilton Head, as well - they just credited back my credit card at check out and used the Disney Visa dollars instead.

But I was warned on-board that I could not reload dollars, which is why I went back on the last night.

I would really rather not put a credit card on my account until after my onboard credit and Disney reward dollars are exhausted. Will that present any sort of problem at check-in?

First, you must get the reward dollars transfered to a rewards card.

--- Issue the first card, need at least $20.00 reward dollars.
--- Add to existing card, need at least $10.00.

The reward cards have an expiration date. Say you transfered $20 last year. The card expires 12/31/04. You would not want to transfer more dollars to that card if you were not going to use it by the end of the year. You may need to order a new card with a later expiration date (not sure if you would need $10 or $20 at that point).

Once you have the rewards card, you can pay money down on your existing cruise via the DCL website or calling DCL (if you have a DCL reservation and not a Travel Agent reservation). Not sure how this would work with a Travel Agent.

You can also go to Guest Services and have them apply the reward dollars to your guest account.
