My dh and I are going to Disney the first week of November so we want to get the most out of our Disney Visa Rewards but want to get the card in time. How long does it take to get the reward card for the first time?

My dh called and said to allow for two weeks but I wasn't sure how true that was.

Thanks

It took me just a little over a week to get my first rewards card.

Order your card now, you can add to your balance after you receive it.

Just remember that when you initially order the rewards card you must transfer at least 20 points. Any subsequent transfers must be at least 10 points. So, transfer 20 now and save the rest for later. It's my understanding that once you have card you can do transfers over the phone.

You can order your card over the internet and also do the transfers that way.

Once you get your card, it will have an expiration date (about a year). Your reward dollars have an expiration date much further out. So, make sure that you only transfer dollars that you are confident you will be spending within that one year timeframe.

I also usually transfer rewards dollars (as I think I will use them) over the Internet. Those transfers are instantaneous.

I received my card in about a week. My 50 bonus reward dollars were on the first bill (must make at least one purchase).

OK, feeling really dumb. Can you use the reward dollars to pay for anything at WDW? Does it just become credit? So you use the card to buy a $50 lunch (assuming you have 50 reward dollars on the card) and it evens out when the bill comes? Sorry, I'm trying to figure this out.

I think it is used like a gift card. If your bill is $51 and you given them a $50 reward card, you owe one dollar. If it is $49, you would still have one dollar remaining on your reward card. You can use your rewards card at any business owned by Disney, so you could use it to buy tickets or merchandise at the parks, as well as most restaurants at the resorts and parks. There are a few non-disney restaurants, like Rainforest Cafe and Fulton's at Downtown Disney, that don't take the card. I would definitely ask when you make your PS or when you get there.

The link to sign up and get the $50 rewards is: www.50disneyrewards.com

Thank you Sherri! Dh and I just got our cards, I signed us up because of the $50 bonus. I just didn't know how it would work.

Thank you for the link!

Anybody know anything about the convenience checks with a fixed rate of 3.99%? Husband just accepted the offer for a Disney Visa last night and we would sure like to get some of the checks to pay for our DVC purchase.

Beware of the DVC checks. Read the fine print and you'll see a 3% transaction charge.

I bought a used Camry yesterday, which I put the bulk of it on the Disney Visa. So for now, I'm saving 30 days worth of interest before paying off with the equity line and also earned $125 Disney Dollars for our November trip.

Also got to EFT some $ to BankOne tomorrow so I can have enough cap room to pay off our trip, booked as a Disney DM package. Forgot about that before maxing out the card......
