Disney Visa Questions

Ok, I'm sorry if this is the wrong board, but we're budgeting this trip (compared to previous trips), and we got the Disney Visa to earn some rewards dollars for a meal.

Here are my questions:

1.) We got our cards nearly 3 weeks ago. Two people on the phone told us we'd be getting a rewards card in the mail separately, but we have not received that. Then, I called to ask today, and a new guy (rudely) told me his co-workers did not know what they were talking about, and we were not going to be sent a rewards card because "it doesn't work that way." I tried to have him explain how it does work then, and he rushed me off the phone then hung up. So, how does it work then? Should we have gotten a card to load our points up (when we're ready) on?

2.) There is at least one place at WDW that you can use to load your card, right? It's at DTD, correct? Can someone tell me where? Also, if we charge things (and of course, they add up to another point or two) up until we redeem the points, will that go on the card to? Or, is there a pending period? I guess I'm asking if it's an instant thing? We'll be staying at a hotel that would get us another reward dollar on the way down to WDW, so that's why I'm asking if it is worthwhile to put that on this card, too.

Thanks!!!

To get your rewards card, you first need to accumulate at least 20 points. Then you just call up, order the card, and it will be mailed to you in 7-10 business days. After that, you can simply transfer points onto your card online as you accumulate them.

The rewards card does expire at the end of Dec. so do not load the points until you are sure you will be using them so you don't lose any points. I believe the points expire 5 years from the date of issue as long as they are not loaded onto the rewards card.

Ok, so what happens if I don't accumulate the 20 points in enough time to get my card in the mail? Is that when I can go to the place at DTD to get it taken care of?

We're going in December and plan on using everything we have on the card for that trip, so that works for us. Thanks for the info, so far!

You can go to Guest Relations at DTD or any of the 4 parks. Show your Visa and ID, they will give you a rewards card. Then you call the 1-800 number (they will give you a phone to use) to transfer the points.

Fantastic!

Thanks, everyone! I knew that is why I love the DIS; I get better answers here than through Chase itself!

Related question - If we charge things to the room and then pay them off with the Disney Chase Visa, do we get 6 months at 0% from the time we paid the room charge off (The end of the vacation). That is does the pay off of the room charges count as a Disney Vacation package the same way the deposit and final payments count?

Things charged at Disney are not part of the package and are not 0%. The only things that are part of the package are what's included in the $200 deposit and pay off. Tickets, room, dining plan...

Thanks, darn it! Having a little trouble getting everything in under budget, was hoping for a little extra time for the extras!

Bear in mind that when you pick up a card at DTD, you still have to load at least 20 rewards. You won't get the rewards instantly whenever you make a purchase, you'll get them after your account cycles for the month. And, when you add more rewards to your card, you have to load at least 10 each time.

Ditto was Magix said - if you have less than 20 points accumulated, you can not get your initial card. You also cannot get points for things you've just charged in the few days prior - your purchases have to go through the billing cycle, and be paid for, before points are awarded. You will need at least 10 points to transfer to an existing card.

We found this out after cancelling the card & being re-issued a new one (because the original was lost). I was assured everything would be linked between the cards, there would be no interruption in service, point accumulation or redemption. Of course this happened just before a Disney trip. So when I called to get the last of my points transferred to my existing Rewards card, it looked like I had a brand new account. Since I didn't have 20 points (we had 18) they wouldn't issue me a new card. Since the account number didn't match the old existing Rewards card, they couldn't put the balance on that card. We had just made a large purchase on the card which would have given us a bunch more points, but we hadn't even been billed for them yet, let alone paid for them, so no points from that.

We will definitely have more than 20 rewards points; our trip alone puts us at that.

Ok, so I need to make sure everything we want to put on the card to get rewards is done the billing cycle (and paid off) prior to our trip? I can do that; although, crud to not earning more on our way down for this trip! Oh well, beggers can't be choosers.
