i have the basic Disney visa that I've only had for a year. I want to get the premier card. I noticed that it says you can't get the $200 bonus if you have got one on "this card" before. I did get one on the current card- but is this the same?. Will I still get the bonus if I get the premier?

I have had the regular DV card for a few years. 2 years ago I got the $200 gift card offer in the Disney Insider newsletter. I called Chase and asked about that same wording and was told that the restriction did not apply to me because I had never had the Premier Card before. I signed up, used that card for a year and before the annual fee would be charged again I cancelled the card. Did need to be careful to get all the Rewards out of my account before I cancelled the card. Even taking into account the $49 fee, I ended up with ~ $350 worth of "free money" ($200 GC plus the rewards) for our next Disney trip.

Thanks. I don't know why I didn't go for the premier from the beginning. I earned $300 in 6 months with the 100 bonus at opening, and just realized if I had paid the $49, I would have $600.

I have both cards and have gotten both $200 gift card deals. I'm going to get rid of the fee card and keep the free one to use for getting into the Chase lounge and other little perks.

I have other cards I prefer to use for better incentives not necessarily Disney related.

So, get your $200 gift card and then make a decision.

I got the $200 on both as well. I actually applied for it separately. That said, there are better credit cards than the Disney visa and don't require the $49 annual fee. Also, your savings won't necessarily double, since not everything is 2% with the Disney visa.

A question about that. We put the $200 reward dollars on a redemption card. Do we have to spend that $200 on the redemption card before we cancel the credit card or is the $200 "safe" on the redemption card.

I was told by people here that when you cancel the credit card, you lose the rewards. I ordered a redemption card for $20. when the points for my billing cycle posted, I put the rest of the points I had earned on that redemption card and used that redemption card to purchase a Disney Gift Card online. Once I got the GC, then I cancelled the account.

This was before they changed the policy and rewards never expire. But not sure if that makes any difference when you cancel the card. My next trip was 2 years out so the rewards would have expired before I wanted to use them.

To be on the safe side, you might want to use that redemption card to buy a gift card which never expires.

I applied and got approved. I think I will use it enough to make up the $49 easy so I will probably get rid of the free one.

Good to know, I will use the rewardS before closing out the old card, THANK YOU

When I look up this card I only see '$200 statement credit'. Is there a different link to get a $200 'gift/rewards card'?
