Hi guys! Dh just signed us up for Disney Visa, and I have a question (typical of my dh he didn't read the fine print). Can the points you earn on the credit card be "saved" up for several years, or do the points expire after a year? Our next trip to WDW won't be until Jan 2009, and I'm hoping to save all our points up to use on that trip. Is this possible?
Thanks!

I am not really aware of the answer to your question, but I was looking into gettin gone of these cards as well.. Is it the disney visa by chase that you are referring to?? You seem like you know about the points that you get. I believe it is 1 Disney Dollar for every $100 spent on the card, (there is some max but I do not remember it)...can these rewards dollars be used on the actual cost of the vacation package if you book through disney. Will they take this off the price of the package itself if you want. Just wondering..otherwise what kinds of things could you use it on during your vacation there besides souveneirs as I wont be buying many....?

Welcome to the Disney Visa Family! Points are acquired and "saved" until you are ready to use them. When ready, you apply for a "Rewards Card" and transfer the number of points to the card. The points are redeemed one dollar for one point. The points you transfer to your Rewards Card expire the year following the year of transfer. For example, if you transfer points on January 5, 2007, the points on the card expire on December 31, 2008. Once you have transferred the points, they must be used before the expiration date or you lose them. Any questions, just PM me.

I believe the points that are not transferred to a "Rewards Card" still expire too (they are good for 5 years as opposed to 1 year when you transfer them). On each visa statement I receive, it says that xx points will expire in April 2011 - those are points that I earned back in April 2006. They are the "oldest" points I have earned right now since I spent my balance in early April :) ).

Also, I believe you max out at 800 points. So it looks like you will be fine for a 2009 trip!!

Points don't expire for many years, but the card expires quickly...so don't transfer any points to the rewards card until you are sure you are going to use them and are close to using them.
