Disney Visa - limit on earning points?

Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many points can earn using my Disney Visa for a single transaction? I have a very expensive hospital bill coming up and if I can put upwards of 10 thousand dollars on the card and earn 100 points I'm all for it! But it seems like wouldn't they want to stop people from doing exactly that and getting a bazillion points? What if I bought a car or something? My Visa's limit is very high. I couldn't find any info on the Visa website about this.

If you're trying to accrue points, you should be putting that money on any card except the Disney Visa. 1% = yawn. In fact, there are a great number of cards out there these days that have incredible sign-on bonuses upwards of $500+.

A lot of car dealerships won't take a credit card because the merchant fees on a huge purchase can be pretty substantial. I don't know what a hospital's policy would be.

As for the card's policy, I'd call Chase/Visa and ask.

I appreciate the advice, but I can't get another card at this time. I'm just looking to find out about the Disney Visa. My surgeon does accept it, but there's no reason to use the card if I can't get the points for it. Thank you for the response!

You have a very high limit but can't get another card...doesn't really add up.

Either way, then I guess 1% is better than nothing.

I put our DVC timeshare on a Capital One Quicksilver card. I got the sign on bonus, 0% interest for 15 months and the 1.5% cash back. No limit on that card. Had the money in the bank earning 1% interest for 15 months and just paid it off right before the promotional interest expired.

Currently there is no cap on the number of points you can earn.

The Disney Visa isn't in my name. My father got it for me because my credit rating sucks. I'm the only person who uses it, and I pay the bill, but technically it's not my account. I would never be able to get a worthwhile card myself and not going to impose on my family's generosity just because I'm not satisfied with the rewards I get.

I only asked if anyone could answer a question for me. I didn't expect that someone on a message board would feel I was somehow suspicious because I didn't want to explain precisely why I was asking the question and the personal circumstances behind needing to know. I'm sorry.

I appreciate everyone's responses. Thank you!

Who is more rude, the one who makes an observation that could be rude, or the one posts a distinct post in response that is rude?

No limit. I wanted to place my new car purchase on the card for the same reasons-Purchase with the card, then turn around and pay off credit card. So I called to ask.
Unfortunately the dealership did not take credit cards.

To answer your question: Your ability to earn rewards is only limited by your available credit and how quickly you can pay it down before running it up again with the Disney Visa. You can pay the outstanding balance off in the middle of a billing cycle, run it back up again, and then pay it off when the bill comes and you would earn 1% on every dollar you charged to the card during that month. You would just need to be careful and not do this repeatedly since Chase has been known to cancel credit cards if they suspect that you might be abusing the rewards system. (Not that I think that the OP would be abusing the system by putting a hospital bill on the card - I'm just throwing it out there for anyone else who is reading and thinking about doing some manufactured spending to earn easy points.)

ETA: Carrying a balance would be a bad idea. If you can't pay it off in full each month, you're better off making a payment plan with the hospital instead. The Disney Visa has a pretty high APR and the measly 1% in rewards is not worth paying the interest. When the hospital would not reduce my husband's bill in exchange for paying it in full with cash, I set up a 2-year payment plan. When the bill comes, I put the monthly payment on my credit card and earn the points that way.

It would be a one-time thing. I'm glad to hear that I can use the Disney card and get some points out of a bad situation! The way my insurance works is that I submit the hospital bill, they send me a check for the covered amount, and I use that to pay the bill. Seems it would be easier to just send the money to the surgeon to begin with, but what do I know. But most of the bill is covered by insurance and I can pay the rest so I don't have to worry about the interest rate.

Again, thank you all for the answers I needed. I did not intend to be rude. I just felt bad when I asked a question and got told my story didn't add up. Like I was trying to pull a nefarious Disney Visa scam and use my ill-gotten knowledge of the points limit to... I don't know, but I'm sure it would be quite clever and villainous!

If you don't generally put such a big amount on your credit, I would definitely give Chase a call to let them know that this charge is coming so they don't decline it.

Also, make sure your hospital doesn't charge you a percentage to use the credit card, it might negate the 1% towards points

Agree with previous posters advice. One: call Chase to confirm that there will be a large purchase being put on and the merchant. Sometimes the bank will have a security system in place that relies on algorithms and they need to override it. Two: check with the hospital and confirm there is no fee for using a CC. You may want to get that in writing if possible if a mysterious fee appears, I would just ask for a document outlining payment options and fees so you can think it over and leave it at that.

I have booked the balance of my Disney trip on my card for a few thousand and never had an issue. The 1% isn't the best, but then again its better than nothing and free money towards Disney is always a win.
