We were one of the lucky ones who received Disney Visa card last week and our card number matched the"target" audience.

However, while you do get 7 nights for 4 (a 40% discount), you are also required to purchase the UPH (over $1700 for my group of 5, almost as much as 5 new APS)

We were planning on buying APs for another trip within a year.

So disney is giving you a discount, but IMHO, taking it back by requiring me to spend more money on tickets that we would never typicallly spend.

I think the best deal is an AP deal, with room only discounts, and then you can spend what you want. Evidently, Disney is getting to wise to the frequent traveler.

I do understand the allure of this package to the non-frequent traveler who would never use the AP for more than one trip anyway.

I don't want to purchase a package because of the UPH tickets. And besides, purchasing your tickets separately means they never expire.

Just for the fun of it, I priced out the 7 for 4, and it would cost us money because of the kind of tickets we buy.

I posted twice on this issue yesterday. Was quoted price yesterday for Disney Visa FTP package and there was no mention of a meal plan. They just asked for last four numbers of my card number and checked in the system and came back and said I was eligible. I've had card for about one year. I already have reservations for 4/7-4/14 with balance due Sunday. There quote for two children and two adults for CBR standard with UPH was $1637. Also said there would be $100disney dollars at check-in. They asked if I was interested in a meal plan and I declined. Never said I was obligated to silver plan. My current ressy for above dates with CBR preferred was $2400 including Prince and Princess add-on. Will be receiving $200 in Disney dollars at check-in. That was also a Disney Visa pkg. I forget the name, but with children between 3-7 there is big savings. Based on that, factoring my current preferred rate and subtracting Prince and Princess add-on and adjusting disney dollars at check-in, there is about a $500 difference for same thing. This current offer is definitely better. If anyone has card and is persistent they can probably get deal. Travel has to be after 5/1.

Good Luck,
Kevin

Kevin, who did you call to get make the reservation and inquire about the Disney Visa discount? I'm going to try tonight-- we've had our card less than a year.

You might want to think twice about attempting to get the FTP Visa deal if you didn't get the offer. There is a post on the budget board where someone booked without the code and got a call from Disney cancelling the rate.

I am interested in this as well.

We are going to WDW in May and don't have a hotel yet - we have had the Disney Visa since they came out with the card and we have annual passes - who do you call to get this kind of deal??

We have 2 adults and 2 children - a 4 year old and a 1 year old (turning one in WDW).

Thanks for your help.

Lisa

I spoke to a CM named Winfield. He was a very nice man. Was placed on hold a couple of times while he checked into what he was able to offer. Be persistent but courteous. Good Luck.

the special package comes with tickets and you cannot take
them off, so if you have an AP you probably are not wanting
to book this deal.

The FTP offered last summer and this one offered by Visa appear to be the same. The tickets are included in packages and it is always a UPH. The package is aimed at the occaisional or first time visitor in my opinion and they are being very selective as to whom it is offered. The suits will know that veteran WDW guest would have the Disney/Visa or have knowledge of it. So evidently they are aiming at "new" or relatively new customers.

Is there any way you could "trade-in" the UPH's for AP's after you arrive at Disney and check into your resort?

Just curious. I've seen where you can trade in regular Park Hopper Plus tickets for AP's....but, didn't know if you could do that with UPH tickets. Probably not.....

speedyf :)

I think the best deal is an AP deal, with room only discounts

Th best deal for me would be what Disney offered in 2002, which was a general public room-only code that saved me $800 at the BC!
I don't want to buy an AP; I'm hoping for the general code that anyone can use.

these package deals are typically not a good deal for season pass holders....In general at Disney(even if you're not a season pass holder) you can do better by booking room only ressies and purchasing tickets seperately...i.e. with this package, you get 7 days for the price of 4: but, you are paying full rack rate for those 4 days....if you have children and are planning on only 1 trip within a one year period of time, I would suppose you can save a little with these plans....for the experienced disney vacationer who goes alot and has annual passes, these deals aren't really of value.

I think the Disney visa is not what a lot of people thought it would be. Perhaps they were mislead or not.

On the packages. I strongly agree with those that said you can get a better deal by not using the packages and doing your own research and getting your own deals. I think that has always been the case and still is.

we have been going the last 4 - 5 summers in august. let me tell you that last summer with FTP and all the RAIN and STORMS it was the WORST trip ever as far as crowds. i actually was gonna cancel, but didnt. im not sure if we will end up going this summer . we usually go near the end, last year was around the middle , for 11 days. it was jam packed, and i mean jam packed compared to any other summer. the weather, which obv. rains in aug., was awful. we are still debating this summer. we might wait for next DEc. so we can see the xmas lts. we still had fun, but it was HOT HOT HOT and JAM PACKED!!
