Disney Visa folks -- a quick update

I'm so upset that we didn't receive any offer either because I just payed an $8,000 lump sum of my DVC membership for SSR on my Disney Visa and of that I only get 1% back, that's pretty sad! I have the money to pay it off so I won't get a finance charge, but to only get such a small reward back is not very "rewarding".

The letter I got set my figure at $850 and said I will get 2% on any balance over $850 each month. So, if I use it 10 different times at $100 a pop, thereby taking my balance to $1,000, I would get 1% on $850, then 2% on the $150 over the threshold. Then, the whole thing resets each month.

Unfortunately, the card I normally use gives me 1% cash back each month, and 3% back on all gasoline purchases, so I only use the Disney visa for a few hundred bucks a month. My guess is the threshold for each member is intentially calculated to be somewhere over your normal monthly average.

I just got off the phone with the Disney Visa person and they said that I don't have a minimum amount to purchase. My card says that I will earn 2% on dining, gas, grocery, etc. and it says I will earn it on every dollar spent. She verified that for my account, that is correct!

I wonder how they picked who gets what.

1) The double points are for purchases ABOVE the threshold.
2) In our case, the threshold is $150 per month aggregate.
3) The threshold is set based upon your past usage.
4) The more you used the card, the higher your threshold.
5) They figure you use it anyway, but this should increase use.

NOTE: As discussed on this board, it is a shame frequent users have higher thresholds. However, the offer is to gain even more use of the card. For frequent users, they don't have to get you to use it, just to use it more often. Another factor is if you typically carry a balance and pay interest charges, your threshold will be lower, since they get the fee on the purchase THEN your interest.

Actually, from what I've seen on my statements, they round up to the nearest 100, so 99 would get you 1 point.
My experience has been that after $50.01 they round up: e.g. you spent $149.95 on the card you get just one rewards point, while if you spend $150.01 you get two. I have had the card since last summer and this has been my experience. I also asked the nice folks at BankOne who administer the program, and they confirmed my theory.

So when I am at say $942 in charges for the month so far with a week to go and no planned charges, I call up Member Accounting and make a $109 prepayment on my DVC loan, thereby getting an extra 2 rewards points out of the cycle (you could just do $9 as well, to pass the rounding threshold).

I got the offer, and my threshold is $550. I don't know if I will be able to charge more than that each month. I'm not too worried about it.

I did not get a card from BankOne, but was amused (due to this thread) that I got a letter raising my large credit limit by $500. Maybe they just didn't want to leave us out... Having paid DVC dues, bought EE US savings bonds, groceries, gasoline and the like with the card last year I am grateful to larry-poppins for reminding us of the "annual earnings" limit - soon we Day 1 people should have a new 750 DDRD opportunity. LOL.

Maybe I'm missing the point of what some of you are saying, but I use the card "frequently" and my monthly bills are usually between $1,000 to $3,000 monthly and I pay it off each month (so they don't make interest money on me) and I don't have any threshold for my 2%. So, like I said, I'm missing the point of what some of you are saying and I have no idea how they chose who got which deal.

Also, I got the card from Bank One and it says DVC Day 1 on it.
I do have a high credit limit, but I don't remember what it is off hand.

:earsgirl:

I finally got an e-mail back from Bank One cardmember services, and it states:

"Our special programs are randomly solicited to BankOne
cardmembers."

Guess my average of $2000 - $4000 a month, being paid off each month, was just not randomly selected. Yeah, right.

You and Me Too!

Sadly, our $3000 to $5000/month spending doesn't warrant an offer such as this. I called and voiced my concern, but will likely send an e-mail, as well.

I wish all those who build up lots of Disney Rewards through this offer and extra magical time spending them :)

Just called Disney Visa and they me that if I didn't get anything in the mail then I am not eligible for any promo, :-( It kinda stinks cause I give them alot of business I guess that is why I am not offeredthe promo. Kinda poor business if you ask me, they don't wanna reward their good customers?

Now I have another Bank One Visa card with them, an AOL card and on that one I received a promo last month for selected months with the 2% deal. But I use the Disney one primarily and wish I could rack up some points......oh well

Thanks for listening,
Vince

Just my luck!!
We just got home from a DVC trip at OKW and used our Disney visa. We got home on the 13th. Oh well, a day late, a dollar short. Or more like a day early:rolleyes:

I keep thinking about calling too, but I am afaird I will get the same answer. I think we are in the same boat and that kind of stinks. We put everything we can on our Disney Visa and pay it off right away. You think they would want to reward such loal customers. (we've had over 250$ and are day one members.) Besides that they have all these new promos for new members, but nothing for continuing ones. Kinda bothers me.

Maybe it is time to give my sore card visa some action again. I had 46,00 points on there and just traded 40,000 in for free airline tickets. I am pretty happy with that since it saved me $600. I think I will call too, but fear the same answer as you.
