Disney Visa discount question

When you are purchasing merchandise in the Parks, can you get the discount just by presenting your card or do you have to use it as the actual payment method? We bought a bunch of gift cards last night to use on our trip and then realized that we probably just forfeited our discounts! Sad panda.

I believe it's 10% off a purchase of $50 or more.

unless it's changed it only at a few places, such as World of Disney, it's not 10% off ANY $50 purchase at WDW.

It's for merchandise purchases over $50 and not just at World of Disney. We used it at the candy store in MK. I think you do have to use the VISA to pay for it, but I'm not sure of that.

You do indeed need to use your Disney Visa card, at least that is what we were informed by two different CMs at World of Disney

They are giving you the discount to encourage use of the card, which in turn they may get interest on.

You used to be able to just show the card and pay with cash, gift cards, etc, but now you have to use it in order to get the discount.

You receive 10% off of a $50 or more purchase if you pay with the Disney Visa at most Disney owned stores. You get 10% off with DVC regardless of purchase amount or payment form currently.

A couple of weeks ago at World of Disney she just asked to look at my card. I didn't have to use it and got the discount.
