Disney Visa credit question

Yep booked two rooms for cruise in January 2011 and got the $50 on both of them.

I tried to do that and when i called the Disney agent (via phone) she didn't know anything about it. pirate:

The disney rewards cards are only good for 1 year. So if you get in in December of 2010, it expires at the end of 2010. So you need to be very carefull when ordering. I am using my remaining dollors to put towards my cruise to make it feelm like some extra pixie dust came my way!
Not true unless they just changed this within in the past couple of months.

I know the Disney Rewards Redemption card has an expiration date. How far in advance of your trip do you usually get it?

Our first time with the Disney Visa card and have quite a few reward dollars saved up.

The Disney rewards card that you order will always expire in Dec of the year after you order the card. That means that the minimum time is 12 months and a day (if you order at end of Dec) or 23 months and 30 days (if you order at first of Jan). It takes about 2 weeks to get the card after you order it and you can transfer $$ onto it from your account at any time once you have the card - in other words, you can get a card with $25 on it and transfer $200 on it later via online or phone call. You can also have only 2 reward cards at any one time.

Call back and ask for the Disney Visa onboard credit code to be applied to your reservation. If the person that answers the phone doesn't know what you are talking about ask to speak with a supervisor.

Thanks so much everyone! My $50 had not been added but the CM i spoke with managed to get it put on for me. He said that there have been some problems with online booking and the credit. So if you talk to a CM and they say they can't do it, definitely try calling back to speak to someone else, because they can add it! :goodvibes

How often are you allowed to transfer reward dollars onto an existing card? And if you already have the rewards card, is the transfer instant? Thanks!

I don't know that there is a limit. Remember, the expiration date of the reward dollars is much shorter on the Card than on your account. I'll usually only transfer the dollars just before I'm ready to use them. That keeps them from expiring before I can use them

Yep. I do my transfers on the Chase website and it shows instantly.

I've transferred them by phone, and it is also instant that way.

Sayhello

Thanks all:thumbsup2
Answered all my questions-even ones I didn't realize I had:laughing:

1) The first time we cruised, we booked another onboard, had it linked to our travel agent (I HIGHLY recommend Tammy Tancayo at AAA if that's allowed) and received not only the onboard credit but the AAA credit as well. We've used DVC points since then, so it hasn't applied to us since.

2) You can get your Rewards Card right at the cruise terminal. I just learned this in December when I realized I hadn't left enough time to order one for our January 9 cruise. Just go to the desks on the end (far right) after you check in. Tell them you need Rewards Cards; they will give you blanks (my husband and I have separate accounts) and hand you the phone. You call Chase and they instantly transfer the points once you give them the Rewards card numbers. It was amazingly easy and convenient and I didn't have the added worry of them getting lost in the mail. An added tip -- we put EVERYTHING on the cards throughout the year, often taking advantage of the 5X added Rewards bonus Disney offers throughout the year, and get lots of points to be used for what we call the "bar bill" on board (excursions, souvenirs, drinks, tips, etc.). We usually have between $800-1000 in 'free money' to spend this way. I wouldn't recommend this unless you pay your CC bill in full each month as it's too easy to get into debt, but if you can do it, do it for the points. We had new windows throughout the house a few years ago and I had the money for them but I still charged them (and paid off when the bill came in) because it meant 70 Rewards dollars!!! They can really add up.

Thanks for the heads up!! My cruise is next week, and I thought the credit was on there automatically for paying in full with the DV -- but I called, and they added it on for me. Yay!! :goodvibes

If I have to pay for the cruise in full to get the extra on board credit, I will do it:)

Has anyone had any luck getting both the OBC for rebooking while onboard and getting the $50 Disney Visa OBC applied too? I just called to get Disney Visa OBC added to an April 2011 cruise and they stated I could not have both. Curious is anyone has gotten both and if I should call back in the future.

Thanks.

I had a DCL obc and when I applied the Visa obc, I lost the DCL on which was fine, because the DCL one was only $25. The on board booking is 100 or 200 dollars, so it is muchg better than the Visa one.

You can not have both the OBC and the DVisa OBC applied. The only true way to double dip with Disney OBC is the DVisa OBC and the $25 OBC for booking online.

Thanks everyone for the clarification. I don't know why I was thinking we could have both. Still happy to be using the Disney Visa for the points and 6 mos. 0% APR.
