Disney Visa Checks for DVC payment??

has anyone done this? i thought i read on these boards that some have done this and i got this great idea that i would use one of the checks that i frequently get for my disney visa card. i would pay it off immediately and then reap the benefits of the reward points. has anyone done this to purchase a DVC resale??

also, now that i am reading the fine print, it says something to the effect that you are not elegible for rewards when using the checks?? HUH??

anyone have experience with this? i can pay cash, but would naturally rather maximize my purchase by earning rewards...

I've paid for all of my DVC points (initial purchase + 2 add ons) with my Disney Visa card. I just worked it out with my guide to break the charges into 2 or 3 payments, then I pay the balance off with cash. I got an extra 500 Disney $ when I added on last November due to a promotion that they were running at the time.

The checks you received are essentially balance transfer checks which never earn reward points, you only get points when you make a purchase using the visa card. When you use the visa card, visa charges the merchant a 3% fee, when you use the checks, the merchant does not pay the fee so Chase Bank will not give you reward points.

Trying to use a Disney Visa or Checks to buy DVC from someone other than Disney? I didn't think that was allowed.

When i bought from Disney directly 2 years ago I financed it through them even though I didnt like the interest rate (9.9% at the time for excellent credit). When I got home from my trip I received a convenience check in the mail from my Disney VISA stating 3.9% for the life of the loan. I looked into it, learned the ropes of the convenience checks, and ended up paying off Disney with one of these checks and transferred my balance over to my Disney VISA and now only pay 3.9%...much better than 9.9%! Unfortunately, no points earned with those checks but I'm happy with the interest savings!
